I know we have Jake and Vernon as our starters, but who do we have to back them up if one of them goes down in the middle of the season while we are winning some games. I can see if Long goes down, Vernon would slide back to the leftside. But then who will fill in the right side? I can see that we have some young versatile lineman that can fill in but I think I would feel better with a veteran backing up both tackle spots. Who do you think will be available when teams make the next round of cuts?>
 
Trey Darilek(Left) and Julius Wilson(Right) have been the backups so far in the mini camps. Darilek has had some time at guard also.

It would be nice to add a veteran to the mix, because I am not crazy about either of those two starting at Tackle if one of the two main guys(Long, Carey) go down.

Maybe Barry Sims if he's still available. I have a pretty good feeling about Julius Wilson, and apparently he's gotten into really good shape this off season. In some ways Wilson being retained and Toledo and Alabi being released was a vote of confidence, but then again Toledo was injured all the time and Alabi just wasn't very good. My guess is that the Fins made the right moves there.
 
I agree J Wilson is up and coming but dont you think we need a veteran guy that can play both the left and right side. Because one injury to either tackle and our O-line doesnt look so good anymore. Who do you think will become available?
 
didnt we draft a guy in the later rounds?? not Murphy, but someone else. along with the undrafted FA's.

Shane Olivea is an FA, im surprised nobodys jumped on him yet

We drafted Donald Thomas, but he's a Guard.
 
We did also sign Dan Gore from Boise State, who is good but was hurt by all the hype surrounding Ryan Clady, and Mike Byrne, who we have playing center, but he played left tackle at Deleware protecting Joe Flacco.
 
We really just need somebody who can play RT. Like somebody already said, if Long goes down, Carey can slide to the left.
 
I think T is one of the positions BP will target when the cuts commence. I also think WR, CB and DT will be a focus for us.

Gore was the starting RT for Boise State. I think Clady was just so amazing that he completely overshadowed Gore.

Gore looks like a hippie, and Byrne looks like a badass. Hopefully they both can play.
