Backfield Roster Cuts

Keepers:
1) Ronnie
2) RW
3) Gordon
4) Minor
5) Morris
6) Evans

Cuts:
1) KJ
2) Martin
3) Moa

Ronnie and Ricky are obvious keepers. We'll hold onto Gordon too since we already put some value in him last year with the trade and like mentioned, he'll probably become trade bait before the end of the year. As much potential as KJ might, Minor will beat him out due to experience and his special team talent. I say we hold onto morris and move him back to where he's been most of his career back at fullback. Yes he showed some half-way decent bursts last year at back but he definitely fills in nice as fullback. Like the majority, I believe that we'll hold onto Evans over Martin. So bye bye KJ, Martin, and Moa

as sad as it is i think morris will see his dolphin day over

I just think Morris' versatility as a possible FB makes him valuable.

I'd say, for RB:

Ronnie
Ricky
L. Gordon

FB:
Evans
Morris

and place Kay-Jay on the practice squad.

is it me or does morris look smaller, i though he was trying to get a little time at FB, doesnt that mean he'd have to get bigger......idk i could be very wrong but in one of the training camp pics he looked smaller, i might be wrong

So who goes?

All of a sudden we're pretty deep at RB:

Ronnie
Ricky
Sammy Morris
Lamar Gordon
Travis Minor
Kay-Jay Harris

and FB:

Evans
Martin
Moa

We likely won't keep more than 6 of those guys - 7 max. So who gets the ax?

The 3 M's...Morris, Minor, Moa...Although I like Morris, KJ and Gordon have more upside...

moa, martin, minor = cut

FB = morris, evans
RB = ronnie, ricky, gordon, kay-jay

Yup, that seems to be what we will have when it's all set and done.

Travis has to go...he had last year to prove he should be our backfield and didn't panned out.

I like Travis, but we've seen all we're gonna get from him. I think he goes, along with Moa and Martin. Travis is a good ST'er, but if he's the 4th RB on the depth chart, would he even be active on gameday? If not, then there's no reason to keep him IMO.

Sammy Morris isn't going to be cut. The guy is a good player to have as a reserve. He can play fullback, tailback, and probably a little h-back if needed. He's also terrific on special teams. His versatility will keep him on this team.

IMO, Lamar Gordon will be shopped to teams like Jacksonville who need a running back.

Travis Minor has a chance because he is a good situational back. I think people forget what kind of impact he made when he was used the way he should be in Chan's offense.

Kay Jay has a good upside, but right now, he may not contribute in enough ways to make the team. His biggest impact will come on special teams, so thats where he has to earn his keep at this point. Depending upon when the Dolphins can deal Gordon, Kay Jay could be a practice squad candidate.

Of course, this is only if Ricky doesn't flake out again and decide to leave camp.
