Sandcheese has 3 fumbles lost, 17 interceptions and 28 million (at least) so far. Somebody should start the cryin if they haven't already.

wow a WR should not be on a list with the RBs and the QBs they touch the ball 10x more than WRs

I find this ironic. All the Bess love that's been plastered over these pages in the past 12 months or so, and he's on a list like this, yet no one has come out & blasted him for his drops.

If this was TGJ, he would be without a doubt crucified - like he alwyas is by 80% of the posters here, but because he's not Ginn, it slips by.

Bess is at best, an average 3rd down slot reciever. He is only really where he is on the team lists, due to the fact that we have no No 1 reciever. If we had a Boldin/Johnson/Wayne type No 1, Ginn would be a 2 as the No 1 would draw dble coverage, Hartline/Camarillo would be equal 3rd & Bess maybe a 5th reciever.

He's also 2nd in the league in 3rd down receptions and 2nd in the league in 3rd down conversions. Oh and he was a UDFA, unlike Ted Ginn. Appreciate the attempt at defending Ginn though. :thanks:

fumbles and drops are 2 differnt things.

I've never really worried about fumbles for a WR. It's all part of the game. Considering the Fins played on a baseball field like surface for the early parts of the season and have played in some poor weather, I don't see it being a huge problem.

What I do like is that Bess has the most catches of any WR in the NFL on 3rd down. I think that's that stat people should think more about.

You realize Ginn was the #1 WR for the 90% of the season and Bess has been the #3 guy for 90% of the season, but has more than double the receptions of Ginn. Ginn is also tied for 6th in most passes dropped.

Bess is praised because he is an undrafted overachiever, while Ginn is a 1st round underachiever.

For Bess to fumble, it implies that he actually caught the ball in the first place. Your boy Ginn can't even pull that off.

I agree fumbles suck, and excessive turn overs is never excusable. That being said Bess has 3 fumbles, and one was on an end around running play and another was a punt return. 3 is not an excessive amount of fumbles being that Bess is our leading receiver and punt returner, but he does need to stop it now, before it comes a problem. The other thing about Davone's fumbles is 2 of the 3 came last week against the Jags. Ricky and Bess got lucky because Miami was able to win this game.

Turnovers and how they affect a player is all about timing and what the other team does with the turn over. Ginn has been demonized this season because his drops have been in the end zone, or the other team picked off the pass off his drop and returned it for a TD. Everyone remembers them because we lost as a result. No one demonizes Bess because none of his turnovers have been rememberable.

I do think Ginn has been unjustly ripped apart on this website. He did not lose the Colts or Saints games for us as many have blamed him for. Our defense needed one stop against Indy and could not produce. Our offense held the ball for 45 minutes, but our defense gave up 5 scoring drives. That is insane, and I am sure if Ginn grabbed that TD Manning would have thrown another TD. The Saints game was lost on so many levels, from coaching to defense to Ginn, everyone had a hand in us losing that game. On the other hand Ginn singlehandedly won the game against the Jets for us. In a game our offense was not moving the ball and our defense was not looking good, Ginn's record setting day gave us a win in a game we should have lost. If we win out and make the playoffs his win against the Jets is bigger than any of his bad days. Ginn's biggest sin this season was that coaching staff assumed he would improve in to a #1 WR despite him not ever displaying the ability to do so. If we would have signed a true #1 in the offseason or traded for one, Ginn would be a hero of the season for his kick return abilities.
