Bama breaking the bank for Spurrier

3.3 mil a year with a 5 mil signing bonus, wow that is more than most NFL coaches make.

I thought Spurrier had no interest and wasn't leaving SC?

He said that about Miami, I haven't heard him say anything about Bama.

I still don't see him going. Spurrier has already shown that he isn't about the money. 'Bama is a brutal place to coach. Spurrier has never gone to a university where the expectations were so high. Even UF only had SEC aspirations when Spurrier came to town.

The Miami job is far better than the Bama one IMO

Both schools have very high expectations, but in Bama you are playing a very tough schedule every year. The ACC can be tough but not to the extent of the SEC

Although if Bama is offering that much money it makes it a hell of a good job.

Spurrier is not going anywhere....my surprise pick is Fisher DeBerry of Air Force. DeBerry has been at Air Force 23 years and Air Force has had three straight losing seasons. I think DeBerry is 3rd in wins among active coaches behind Bowden and Joe Pa. Fischer is from South Carolina, so if he steps down at Air Force, Bama might be tempting.

Spurrier signed a contract extension today with South Carolina that included a pay raise.

Hope Bama signs someone soon...I am tired of the Nick Saban to Bama talk. :tantrum:

Alabama is screwed. I'm a fan, but they're getting what they deserve for their treatment of coaches in the post-Stallings era. The Shula firing was absurd. He lost to Auburn 4 times. Boo hoo. The answer is to man up and do better, not throw out the coach. Yes, I know he also lost to Croom and that may be the even worse sin. I don't care. I think keeping Shula through thick and thin for at least 8 years was the one thing Alabama had to do in order to have a chance at getting back to being a big contender. I don't care if Shula went 1-11 each year, either. Nobody wants this job because they know it's a 3-4 year job at best because the expectations are impossible.
