Its a shame, I really felt he probably could win the Triple Crown, he had all the tools. I don't believe the owners care to much about him not racing anymore, but it would be a tremendous blow if he can't survive and begin breeding offspring, thats where the real money in horse racing is. Barbaro would get 50 million minimum for his breeding capabilities. I have never seen so much support for one horse, not even Charismatic who won the Derby and Preakness, and finished third in the Belmont despite suffering a horrific leg injury during the race, got this much attention and support, simply amazing.

Funny, during the post parade of the Preakness I said to myself Barbaro looked so robust, not nearly as fragile as the typical thoroughbred. i almost felt like I jinxed him when he broke down.
When he broke through the gate I no longer thought he would win that race. But then it was stunning to hear the race caller say Barbaro pulled up with an injury.
This is terrible news today. Franky, I don't even want to read the articles. Hate to say it but I'm expecting the worst news Friday or Saturday.
