UM set to hire Barrow
The University of Miami is expected to announce as early as today the hiring of Micheal Barrow as its linebackers coach.
Barrow, 36, a native of Homestead, played for the Hurricanes and was named first-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation in 1992. He was a runner-up for the Butkus Award and finished seventh in the 1992 Heisman Trophy voting. He lettered for UM from 1989 to 1992.
Tim Walton, the current defensive backs coach, might be named the defensive coordinator. That would still leave one coaching vacancy that head coach Randy Shannon said last week he planned on filling.
