Bonds is so much of a dick and an a-hole its almost refreshing on some level.

The final week or so of the season, he is telling the Giants front office all of his demands. Telling them he isn't playing with any rookies. He doesn't want the team to re-build. He wants "X" amount of money. And then, after the final game, he cleans out his locker. Takes his name-plate off his locker. And goes over his list of demands again stressing them.

This guy is in his own little world. It's laughable on many levels.

I will say this, on some level I do like him.

He doesn't care what is written about him, if any fans like him, if any teammates like him..........he's doing his thing and nobody will tell him otherwise. That is the refreshing part.

Love him, hate him. Cheater or not........this guy doesn't care. And he proves it yet again

The best Bonds story ever is still the ALL STAR GAME story.

For those who don't know at the all star game, the Monday before and the Tuesday of. The players hang out, chill, tell war stories, and sign a bunch of autographes for each other. Whether it be for personal use or for something to be auctioned off or something.

A few years back, the back-up catcher on the NL squad. His name slips my mind right now, walks up to Barry, real nice, respectful and such. Says, someone in his family is a huge fan of his (bonds) and would he mind signing this bat for him so he can give it to him as a gift.

Bonds looks at the guy, laughs and says...."NO"......then keeps laughing and walks away!!

Of course word of that story spread the 2 days of the all star monday/tuesday and Bonds is hated by everyone again.

It's the greatest story ever. Bonds just doesn't care if anyone likes him.

When Bonds dies, they will hold his funeral in a telephone booth. Nobody's gonna show up!!

I think the Philly fan story tops it. Although, around these parts, Barry is a god. I am stuck in Giants-homerism land. As you can tell from my sig, I am probably the most hated guy in NOR-CAL.

Anyway, the Philly fan story. So, Bonds is pretyt much guarenteed to get booed when he ties/surpasses Babe Ruth, unless he does it in San Fran. Well, he ties the record in Philly, and lo and behold, he is given a surprising standing ovation from the hometown Philly fans. He also has the sheer dumb luck of having, probably the only Giant fan in Philly, catch the homerun ball.

The guy, being a good little Giants fan (yuck), doesn't want money, doesn't want fame, doesn't even want to be on Barry's tv show. All he wants to do is give Barry the ball in exchange for an autograph. Given the circumstances, and the chance for a little bit of good pub (all the cameras are on him), you would think Barry would sign a piece of paper, his shirt, anything right?

Wrong.

Barry refused. He didn't give him an autograph, and instead demanded that the fan sign a waiver so that they didn't have to blur out or cut him from the reality show Bonds was taping. Surreal.

That is just how Barry is I guess. I don't ocmmend him for his behavior, because while some may look at ihm and say he doesn't care, I look at him and think he is delusional.

As for him returing to San Fran, the writing is on the wall. They don't want him back and they hope he chooses to go elsewhere. One of the managing partners was being interviewed yesterday during their last loss of the season, and when asked about Barry, he sidestepped the question and said, "We are going to do what is best for San Francisco and the Giants."

Pretty much sums it up to me. He also said they ARE going to get younger, and did so today by firing Felipe Alou, who happens to be 346 years old. They are telling Bonds to go without having to say it. That way they save face with the fans. If Bonds comes back, it is because he is clueless and the Giants organization are to big of wusses to come right out and say they are turfing him out.

I love bonds and his ******* stories. But i have a question to all of you that like bonds, why?? Do you like him because he's an *** and you find it funny? or are their other reasons? im just wondering

I respect him for hitting 730-something homers, clean or not. I respect him for being the only member of the 500-500 club, clean or not. I respect him for his 7 Gold Gloves, clean or not.

It is a damn shame that his career will always be sullied by the steroid story and the fact that he's not a cuddly teddy bear, because no matter what you think of him, personality-wise and integrity-wise, he is one of the best baseball players ever to roam this planet.

Ted Williams was no nice guy. Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle weren't saints. Babe Ruth was a womanizing drunk. Yet in time they were all revered. Bonds might never reach that level, but there's no denying he leaves an indelible mark on this game whenever he chooses to hang them up.

Am I a fan? Not particularly. But I do applaud, and I think that's the only thing that Barry cares about.

I can totally see your point, although for me(and for the time being) his off the field antics overshadow his on the field performance, which in many ways sucks.

Integrity wise? Bonds is no saint. Put aside the fact that he is probably going to walk away as the game biggest cheater to never get caught, the guy is not a good teammate. He alienates himself willingley from his teammates, he doesn't run out singles, let alone ground balls. He watches balls in the outfield that he thinks are homeruns, bounce off the wall. He fights with teammtes in the dugout and makes racists remarks and runs down some of the sports biggest ambassadors ever.

He had a lot of talent, but his integrity leaves a lot to be desired.

This could be wrong but I recall a story of a teammate of Bonds asking for advice or tips and Barry just said something like "You don't have the same talent as me," or something of that matter. Barry definately can help an AL team being a DH and even in the NL I think he would help a team although his defense awful. If he goes to an AL team to DH which I don't think he will I think he's got enough left to have a big year. Who really cares what he does? Is he any worse than guys like Jeff Kent who lie to an organization about injuries or even the LHP from the Dodgers (Beimel) who cut his hand at a hotel according to him or at a bar according to witnesses? He doesn't care what people think about him, well I don't think alot of atheletes care what people think and the ones that do struggle.

There's another Bonds story about how 2 kids came up to him in Spring Training and asked for his autograph. Bonds response...."shouldn't you be in school." and didn't autograph anything for them. Everyone knows a ton of people come down for vacations during Spring Training AND BRING THEIR KIDS. Bonds knows better then to do a lot of the crap he does. He just doesn't care!
