Barry Jackson Evening Notes...good insight

Hicks is not a bad signing in that he can backup guard and tackle. The most confusing signing is the Jets LB. Why? You bring in Anderson right after who would seem to be a much better option. I think they use the draft for WR so they need to fill the OL now. They almost have to bring in Winston and let Jerry and Murtha battle it out for RG and top tackle spot. With a couple of contract extensions to Long and Bush which they NEED to do they could save a bunch of money. They should also extend Starks since he is by far their best DL guy. Weird they haven't brought in Nelson for safety. Could he be signed and Bell shown the door in this new D? From what i understood the safeties are really interchangeable - they don't use a true SS as they had before. I know Ireland loves Bell but he does not make many big plays and makes alot of $$.

b/t i'm betting that agent that said that miami wants to get the qb thing wrapped up this weekend was none other than eric winstons or mark andersons...i'd lean towards winstons...

Just a few rumors I've heard.

1.If/When Miami signs Flynn, a few more free agents could sign.

2.Seattle is monitoring the Alex Smith situation

Which brings Flynn's price down for us.

Flynn And Winston and I think we are doing great!!!!

That would be awesome.

Frist round we could trade down to lower first round while picking up a 2nd/3rd this year...Get a WR low 1st round and then a TE 2nd round...

Would be so nice...

And draft another WR in the 3rd round...

I hope we go heavy offense in the early rounds if we get these two guys...

The Marshall trade shocked the hell out of all of us. Even though he faces a possible suspension, I still would rather him on the team then the two 3rd round picks.

I have to admit that the whole Marshall thing and the slow activity of the team out of the gate gave me a very bad feeling about this team. But with Soliai being re-signed, a solid #3 corner (who could possibly start at FS) being signed, the likely(hopefully) signing of Matt Flynn I think have a chance to come out of this OK and a reason to be excited. On top of that, we might still be able to sign the best RT on the market and are in talks with a pass rush specialist who had 10 sacks last year for the Patriots.

The Defense was great last year, and despite likely losing Langford, the defense will probably be one of the league's best again. Flynn is an unknown, but his familiarity with Philbin is a huge plus. Plus along with Philbin, Mike Sherman have developed quarterbacks. Plus we have four picks in the first three rounds to address more positions and might get a starter or two out of it.

What is also nice for the Dolphins in 2012 is that they have a pretty soft schedule. I can't predict how the rest of the offseason will go, but there are realistic moves that can still happen that can transform this team into a winner. It will all depend on how good Flynn actually is, assuming he even signs here.

IF we are able to get Winston (i'd say 40% chance right now) with Marhall, Anderson, and Flynn.. we'll have upgraded the Secondary, got a pass rusher, we're all crossing our fingers on the QB and upgraded our O-Line.... with our 1st, 2nd, and 2 thirds, we can get a WR, TE, and another couple of what could be early impact players/starters.

I like the thought of getting Flynn and a young WR, be it Floyd, Blackmon, Jeffery and have them develop together.

Y'all are up on Winston's ankle situation, right? He's healing/rehabbing, but might be why market is soft for what he's looking to be paid. just sayin

I do not think the Dolphins will sign both Anderson and Winston if they sign Flynn. I think they will sign one of them and fill the other need in the draft.

You can sign these backup guys at anytime and cut them at anytime too..You need to nab them before anyone else does even if they are just backup material..

I believe that Flynn will be in the bag this weekend.I still would like to see us draft a QB this year but it'll be nice knowing that we didn't miss out on everyone.....Flynn knows the offence well and that will help us this coming season....once he's in I think we might get 1 or 2 more guys and then start getting ready for april......the draft should be fun with 9 picks so far but that number could go up by 1 or 2

Ozzy rules!!

we only have 8 picks we dont get both 3rds this year from the bears.
