Barry Jackson: Injury Updates on Parker and Albert

Hopefully Parker can get in a couple of weeks of practice before week 1. I'm very excited about him.

Thanks for posting. Hope its true about Parker, but wouldnt expect his agent to really say anything negative about his recovery process.

if Albert can line up week one consdiering the type of injury he had and when, we have to be thrilled.

I'm wishing Parker a speedy recovery, but let's sit him until he's 100% and then let him wreck havoc like OBJ did last season.

The injury stuff is what I think I expected to hear and what has been the company line from the start...

This I didn't know though

Incidentally, Gould said Parker’s 10 endorsement deals --- Adidas, Proctor & Gamble among others --- are the most for an NFL rookie. Among the reasons Parker is attractive to sponsors, Gould said, is “he has a quiet confidence and doesn’t have issues off the field.”

Most of any rookie...pretty impressive when you consider some of the players taken ahead of him.

I said this before, this may be a blessing in disguise having Parker sit out meaningless pre-season games, especially when you consider it's fixing a lingering problem for the long term. I'm still very concerned about Albert. Torn ACL on a man of his size makes me uneasy. I'm hoping he gets back to full strength, even if it means him missing a few games into the season.

Caught my eye also.

i'd love for parker to be ready to go a week or two before that third preseason game (the falcons on 8/29), and make his first appearance there. then sit him for the last preseason game and have him for week 1.

he had the surgery on Friday, 6/5, so he will have 12 weeks (and a day) of recovery time before that game kicks off.

Good news but coming back from injury has some longer term implications. Parker may be a little off in the early part of the season with timing and game speed. Hopefully, he will be able to get comfortable after a few games. We have a good group of receivers especially with Jennings. Albert doesn't need the reps, but I would game plan the first 3-4 games where he comes out for a series or two. Conditioning and compensatory injuries are a bigger risk especially when he might be getting tired or fatigued. I just hope our offensive line can find chemistry early without Albert there in practices and preseason.

Parker is a luxury rather than a need. We have 3 solid starting caliber players to play WR so there is certainly no need to rush him back. Let him get 100% healthy before coming back. Albert is another story, we can't rush him back but his presence on the field will probably be the difference in a few early Ws and Ls.

also, give it up to Barry Jackson for constantly sating our impatience.
