Typical good read. Ireland has done great with late picks. Is Ireland responsible or are there others in the organization coming up huge in these slots.

Also, Jackson opines that the team's performance could be his undoing and not bullygate. Interesting.

Jackson seems to think that Joe Philbin is safe. However, if anyone watched SportsCenter yesterday morning John Clayton was asked about coaches on the hot seat and after Greg Schiano, Clayton mentioned Philbin. He said Joe had to "win a few more games and get to the playoffs". I thought that was interesting. IMO, the reality is closer to Jackson's, though I personally think Philbin has underachieved.

I thought it was funny from this piece that the veteran player talked about his events turned into "Ireland Bashing". Too funny.

Shows if you really look at it most don't know what the hell they are talking about, and wand to find a scapegoat and ride him out of town.

Ireland has done good in the later rounds, which is harder to do then hit on the early rounds... BUt dude has missed some premier talent in the first 3 rounds and that is something you can not do. Hopefully Jordan pans out or else Ireland needs to go. Id rather have some star players then a mix of solid players.

For those that want Ireland out and a new GM, should demand the new GM be allowed to pick his own coach.

John Clayton has no clue if Philbin is on the hot seat or not. Barry Jackson is much more connected to the situation. If Jackson says Philbin is safe for 2014, then he is in fact safe.

I think his job is safe. He deserves a 3rd year with this team. Plus it would be stupid to change coaches for Tannehill's sake. You dont want a young player to keep playing for new coaches and new systems. Philbin has done a solid job here so far.

Sherman on the other hand can kick rocks for all i care. But he isnt going anywhere.

John Clayton is very connected. I would not pass it off at all...though Jackson is connected, I agree.

Agree with you. Last week I forget which show it was (think on NFL network) they said Dolphins still cant get the ball downfiled to Wallace because the O line cant give the QB any time at all. That was like old information Wallace was open in the Carolina game an QB just couldnt hook up every time. Tend to agree that Philbin is staying.

Of course, and you won't find any GM take a job when they can't hire their own man. Remember when Wanny got stripped of his GM duties? Only reason we promoted Spielman was because all the outside candidates said they wanted a new coach and Wayne said no. Even Marino resigned from whatever position we gave him because Wayne would rather have Wanny than Marino.

At the same time, Philbin is VERY well respected around the league too and it wouldn't shock me if a new GM wanted to try to work with him first.

As for Ireland, yes he's picked some solid to good players late in the draft. But he's gotta get more impact guys early

Sorry but he sucks and there really isnt any way around it. He needs to be canned for the Jon Martin thing alone.

^^^This is the problematic part IMO. I really believe we can win with Philbin at the helm...Hell I believe with better line-play and a running game we can even win with Sherman. But, folks gotta understand it doesn't make good business and football sense to fire J.Ireland and retain Philbin and company.

If you decide to get a new GM at the end of the season then you have to trust him to make WHATEVER changes he/she deems important. Which means if they want to bring in a completely new regime then you have to let them.

So what that said, I think at this stage in the game. I would rather keep J.Ireland, especially if we make the play offs giving him and more importantly Philbin and company 3 solid years to see if they can right the ship.

That is why I have said if Ross is bent on keeping Joe, he should promote Brian Gaine or allow Joe to pick his own GM and double down on Joe. Give Joe personnel power.

No shot gun marriages.
