Barry Jackson Notes: Dan Campbell's Thoughts, Injury Updates

Again, I will keep couching my answers...I do not know if Campbell ends up succeeding and getting the full-time gig. That will work itself out.

However, it is refreshing to hear his answers to questions. Absolutely love them.

First of all, he is straight forward about injuries. He is not blowing smoke and giving dumb answers like Philbin did. Joe, with his "I am only talking about players that practiced" or "wait for the depth chart" garbage. Campbell was honest as he could and praised the injured player and also talked up the next guy. From there, I think he is dead on what the team did not do last night and how to remedy the shortcomings the team seems to have such as 3rd downs.

Say what you will about his inexperience and can he "match wits" with other coaches. However, I think he has a high football intellect and obviously he is leader.

There are a handful of candidates that would be tremendous coaches for Miami if Campbell does not work out. However, I am so rooting for Campbell to emerge as the guy that deserves the job. I have never rooted for an individual Dolphins head coach to have personal success as I do with Campbell.

I love Campbell. I'm routing for him also. I think he's married to Tannihill which bothers me. I don't think he is the answer at qb. Misses reads, stares down recievers, and can't throw accurate deep ball, leaves too many plays on the field.

I just want to see RT step up in a big game or spot. I think that is next hurdle for him. Next up…Buffalo. While that is not a primetime game, he has struggled bad up there and the season on the line.

I love too that he says he is going to spend time with his family and "get to know them again". The guy is real. He has perspective. Honest as the day is long. I cannot help, but root for this guy.

I really am interested in Hue Jackson, Kyle Shanahan and I will not lie the idea of Todd Haley made me say "meh" at first, but I am intrigued by this one. That said, what an "interview" Campbell has right now.

While some have talked him up to be Bill Cowher. I think he is more like Mike Tomlin. Tomlin did not have a ton of experience before being a HC albeit more than Campbell. Tomlin hired excellent coordinators and delegated. Heck, Tomlin had success from the Tampa 2 scheme and he kept the 3-4 still to this day.

Anyway, I really hope he does well. We shall find out. A big month ahead for him.

I doubt this guy gets hired on but I really like his straight forward approach. A lot of people don't k now this but it will take a couple of year to undo what phil did to this team. What he did was totally destroyed the young defense we had going on. Miami was known for his defense before Phil. They were stout against the run and decent against the pass. They were a low scoring team but they were never getting blown out. Yes I was boring but we used to have a chance. with Phill we not a running team or a passing team. We can't stop the run nor the pass, we lost our identity. we lost our good leaders and now we must rebuild. weather you agree or not this team must be rebuilt to have an identity. Who will do it ? only God knows.

What sucks for Campbell is his best defensive player and leader is done. Now is line is going to be down with the improving James out. How many big plays would Wake be worth in order to help win a game? I am sure that will not be the end of the injuries too.

He didn't get the team prepared simple as that. I thought if they can go up there and win then we got us a coach. **** the excuses I don't care. I thought Campbell was gonna be something special that fell into miami's lap. I was wrong, I drank the kool-aid I had renewed hopes and had them crushed again.

Campbell got the team believing they were something there not and then the reality came. Season is over people this team is a failure and they need to start completely over. The only players on this team are Jones, Grimes, Wake who is now pretty much done. Pouncy, and maybe Miller. That's it imo

I think playing on a short week and playing the best team in football might have been too much to ask.

I'm a fan of the guy. I hope he has what it takes. I just don't agree that the players had the same intensity they did the previous 2 weeks. Outside of Jones, the whole team looked like the stage was just too big for them. It was a huge blow but we'll see what Campbell is really made of now. See how he responds to getting kicked in the teeth on national TV. This could crumble or be what this team needed to get their perspective. Hoping for the latter.

This team, like 90% of all others, goes as the QB goes. When that poor throw resulted in the int. you could hear the wind come out of our sails. I had thought RT had turned a corner with that throw to stills out of the end zone with the game/season on the line. Big time play in big moment. We need to see that consistently for success. The offense is also too soft. I read Parker was carted off the field for an owie on his foot? Not good.

The team went back to what they had been trained to be by Philbin. They had pretty much the week off because of it being Thurs. game, and reverted to their cautious, reactionary foundation which was laid.

I would like to hear Campbell call out RT. He is awful on third downs, and putrid in the 4th Q. Of course, he's another that had been suckling at Philbin's teet so it may be just who he was made to be.

Cambo has several issues to get with: Wake, Ja'wan, Fox... 17 (huge)... bouncing back from a loss... and Lazor; who imo needs a good kick-in-the-ass for lack of runs Thursday nite; that guy still has a lot of Philbin stink on him... not liking his act
