### There remains mutual interest between the Dolphins and former Oregon star running back LaMichael James, a 2012 second-round pick who requested his release from the 49ers last week because he wants a more substantial role. James is expected to take the weekend to consider his options. He worked out for the Dolphins on Tuesday.
James has averaged 4.5 yards per attempt on just 41 NFL carries and ranked 10th in the NFL in punt return average in 2013, at 10.9.
### Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno, out with a dislocated elbow, has told teammates he’s aiming to return immediately after Miami’s bye, Oct. 12 against Green Bay.
### One thing that has to change: The Dolphins need to get back to maximizing the downfield receiving skills of Charles Clay, who is averaging 6.4 yards per reception (among the worst among starting tight ends) after averaging 14.6, 11.8 and 11 the past three seasons. Clay, in a contract year, said teams aren’t paying any more attention to him than last year.

Get Clay the damn ball! I know you want to feature Wallace, but this guy is a playmaker and brings defenders along for the ride on the way to the endzone!

Clay needs to help himself as well. He has had an ugly drop in each of the first two games. That said, I don't remember him being targeted more than 15 yards down the field yet this season. Not sure who is at fault for that, but we need to start attacking the middle of field, and that should start with Clay.

if moreno comes back after the bye i bet it will be wearing one of those robo cop like elbow braces gronk does...if he's not wearing any protection that soon after he's one crazy son of a gun

clay is working more shallow stuff i think trying to avoid help coverage...but i think the more they like the pass pro from the tackles the more we will work more vertical routes...at least i hope...got to get him down the seam...tempo would allow for it also more

also clay doesnt look like quite the same explosion or quickness player right now...no doubt that legs why...bye week will be a nice rest for his leg...

I noticed the same. That knee is a factor in his ability to cut/accelerate and probably his involvement in game plans.

Getting Clay involved more vertically would be good...he was one of the few receivers that can actually catch a pass from Tannehill downfield...but Clay would also have two 15+ receptions if he didn't drop those passes. That would have helped his average.

I admit I didn't know anything about this LaMicheal James kid until just now seeing he requested release from the 49ers so I decided to look into him a bit. And holy **** color me impressed. He doesn't just make the first guy miss, generally the first guy doesn't lay a finger on him. And if he does happen to get touched by the first guy he breaks a lot of those tackles. And even when he gets tackled he almost always is able to fall forwards for an extra yard or two. And he looks to have great hands in the passing game. And speaking of being a small guy, they can be worth their weight in gold, they can disappear behind big linemen then they seemingly appear out of nowhere and are gone before the linebackers even have a chance to react. He's an elusive small back with power and great hands. What's not to love?

Obviously its a pretty big red flag that he couldn't earn playing time but his upside is pretty incredible. There's no ****ing way he's not an upgrade over Daniel Thomas.

He's a well spoken man and I like his mindset towards the game.

Clay looks like he's afraid to get hit which is why I believe he dropped those balls. And I think he's a tough player - but clearly he's favoring something / not well.

Agreed, something similar to what JJ Watt puts on.

If we could go into the bye at 3-1 AND be coming back with reinforcements of Misi, Moreno, Jones and Jordan…and Pouncy hopefully even before that. This could be a completely different team…definitely need to get that momentum going into the bye with a couple of wins

Does anyone else get the impression that teams are going after his knee? I saw at least five defenders attempt to put a helmet on his knee in the buffalo game and the one that finally got him was after a dropped pass across the middle. I think drag routes and screens are going to get him hurt even more than he already is. I would rather see him catching vertical routes.

LaMichael: hmmm.. take a j-o-b with the Fins; or complete this aholes' drive-thru order? what to do, what to do...
