Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said Monday that the starters will play more in Friday’s second preseason game against Dallas, that the team would like to know its starting offensive line before the third preseason game and that his entire offense simply must get better. And quickly.

“We are going to play our guys a little bit more [in game 2]," Christensen said.

More . . . Christensen made clear today that he expects more from Ryan Tannehill (especially in getting the ball out more quickly), his offensive line, his tight ends (not enough impactful plays) and his receivers (in terms of beating man coverage). • Why has your group sputtered to extent you have? “Knowledge and too much thinking. We’ve given them a lot to think about. That slows folks down. We look like a team that’s kind of thinking and making sure we’re trying to do the right thing. Once you know and you don’t have to think about how to get lined up, and what the play is, now you can go do it faster. We’re challenging them, these two weeks, that ought to start showing up. Stuff ought to look sharper. We ought to beat man coverage better. And we ought to do everything better and faster.” • Is Tannehill getting ball out as quickly as you want? “No. I don’t think anything is as quick as we want. Nothing – the protection, the run game, the pass game, the routes, nothing is as quick as we want. That has to all speed up if we want to get where we want to go. Especially the up-tempo and some of those things all have to become second nature. I hope in the next two weeks, we start seeing the results.”

A Tannehill thread from you? Go ****ing figure.

Honestly, it is a Barry Jackson article, so it isn't like he is pushing some agenda and the quotes in the article are from the coaches themselves. Granted, at first glance t does seem like it is intended to be negative, but in the end reads like any other preseason piece.

Agreed. Reads like every unit and every player is having problems, Tannehill included. If, as CC says, it's too much thinking, that will change once instincts take over. To be fair to everyone, learning a new system to the point thinking becomes automatic, is going to take time.

Hopefully tunsil plays well to be starting by the first game of the season.

Christensen seems like a no BS kinda guy. Instead of just evading the issue, he appears to be confronting it head on, by publicly saying Ryan needs to get the ball out much quicker. After many years of deflected non-answers from Coaches like Joe Philbin and Tony Sparano, there appears to be more candor from the coaching personnel this year.

they should know the line right now, it is bleeding obvious

They should not need THomas to put Tannehill on IR before they drop (or preferably cut) him

With a new offensive system it makes sense that everyone is struggling a bit and "thinking too much". I expect them to get better as time goes by and they feel more comfortable in this new system.

But the OL has been this bad before, when they were playing in a much more familiar system. That's problematic.

But......., but......... I thought it was a PROVEN FACT, that the people " IN THE KNOW" say tanny is actually the FASTEST in the nfl at getting the ball out, pre snap reads, finishing his gatorade, identifying the right target, etc....... . This Clyde Christiansen fella obviously is NOT one of these "in the know" types. He obviously isnt paying attention to the board.

Rubbish!!! Just more tanny hating. Does christiansen even watch football?

There's the oc talking up tempo again...really believe this teams going full no huddle out the gate

Pretty sure the wrong route talk with grant is the db leveraged outside stop and out cut he caught...the routes should be run away from leverage but that stop and lateral cut just blew the doors off it

Doughty had grant tunnel vision in the preseason opener...when he got man he stayed with grant the entire way...worked out but I wonder how he'd fare if someone game planned to take grant away spreading it around

Read that Joseph basically said looking to keep 5 des...do they choose wide 9 sub pass rush in McCain or 2 down run stuffer depth in Fede...I say always choose the pass rusher

Sounds like they are about done with install...tannehills clock should speed up soon
