“Multiple people who have dealt with the Dolphins say even though general manager Chris Grier was given total control of personnel decisions, including the 53-man roster, he is deferring to Flores on most things. One person who spoke to Miami’s front office said as an example, Grier preferred to keep TJ McDonald but Flores didn’t, and Grier usually lets Flores get his way.”

“This is notable, because owner Stephen Ross wanted to empower his GM in his latest organizational shuffling. But Grier apparently has no desire to be the commanding, have-it-my-way GM presence, instead trying to build consensus among his staff and often deferring to his coach.”

“In some ways, I wish Grier threw his weight around more, because he should insist on Flores starting Josh Rosen to get a full read on him instead of wasting time with Ryan Fitzpatrick.”

Jeez man, This is getting unbearable ....2 topics in that article that show Barry Jackson doesn’t understand anything as it pertains to a successful run front office..

The coach has the control of the 53...PERIOD...that’s the only way the dynamic between coach and GM will survive...GM supplies the talent, staff chooses the 53, with Grier’s input in the room..

the other topic, is downright laughable..Insisting to the head coach that a player should start so he can evaluate him during the regular season is a ridiculous accusation, that’s what tanking is....This is not how a front office and staff work together..Especially during a rebuild of this magnitude.

Flores has the right to choose who starts and who’s gonna dress..

And BTW, since he got the job full time, the Miami Dolphins once again, over the next two years, have more draft capitol, AND cap capitol then any other team in football..I guess that means he’s a real lightweight..

I hope Grier and Flores continue this symbiotic relationship, Flores has serious background in scouting, and Grier should be working very closely with his head coach..

Thanks for the rant of sorts..I started this thread because I know these beat guys surf the sites, and Someone needed to check him..

So Houston "wore Chris down" by continually improving their offer until he couldn't say no.........what lol

Sure the players are not to happy as they know they wont win but who cares. Also, I like how they say a veteran on the offensively line privately wants to be traded. That can only be Kilgore, no one else is even classified as a veteran. This piece literally says nothing...Barry is better than this.

He calls Grier soft basically, no balls, meek, however, not taking two 1sts and a 2nd for a left tackle is playing it so safe, any Gm that’s has confidence in his abilities will take that deal and flip into something better..

The article is bush league journalism imo

wow... so it's really like they said???

Collaborative???

Stop the nonsense!

Radical concept!
There is no weakness is deferring to your head coach about a player..especially this one with his scouting background.

As a Gm all you can ask from your coach is to evaluate the talent you provide for them, as the GM, you live with the results.

We haven’t even got to game 1 yet, they are all in for a miserable year.... the honeymoon ended real fast didn’t it?

His shtick has been awful lately... Not that I pay attention.

He just continues to prove his irrelevance in an irrelevant job.

100% agree. I'd be **alarmed** if it wasn't so...

The success of the franchise depends on their productive relationship.

Oh wait, is Barry into that?

:ponder:

You would think this franchise has accomplished something in the past two decades..

To not respect their process for this new coach, or even conceptualize what they are doing, to accuse what he did, is an indictment on their football knowledge..

I wonder what the response would be if they asked every reporter this question, ‘after the moves of the last 10 days, how many more games do you think this team will now lose than before.?

I have to say the Armando article I posted was the most grounded, he disagreed with the Tunsil trade but other than that...

Barry used to be a fine reporter. He was our best guy by far, the most objective, level-headed one for sure. But I feel like this team finally broke him the past two years, and his head seems to be exploding at the moment. It's kinda funny, but also depressing cause we really have the worst guys covering our team.

everyone knows that this was gonna be a damn rebuild, everyone, so the fact that Grier has put this franchise rebuilding process in a position to have more hi draft picks and more cap money than any other team in football should be the damn story..

Write that story Barry...sloppy journalism
