Barry Jackson Sports Buzz 7-30

Larsen is not making this team. I am not sure why they do not bounce Smith to RG and fit in Garner, who has experience or sign a veteran.

The line is not a "murders row", but is serviceable if went Albert, Colledge, Garner (or Satele), Smith, James.

I saw some of the Seahawk Training Camp yesterday on TV. I was surprised to see that for an extended period of time they operated a 9 on 7 drill where 9 defenders are opposed to 7 Offensive players. The net effect of this was to make it extremely hard for the Offense to make plays (and we all know that Seattle has a great Defense anyway). By stacking it this way, the media were not hyper critical of the Offense. While here in Davie, any interception is treated as an Offensive disaster by the media. I was impressed by the Seattle drill. Who says that it should be fair for both Offense and Defense?

Don't you people realize that Satele was THE WORST center in the entire NFL last season??!! Why in the heck would we want him here?

I'd say Corey Peters, Peria Jerry, and Soliai should be a big enough test for the interior OL. They also have RaShede Hageman and Tyson Jackson who can slide over to DT..

Clinton McDonald and Akeem Spence should also test us in week 2.

Isn't week 4 when teams start to play their starters more to get adjusted?

solia will be a test as far as the run game jerrys just a guy peters is pretty good but atl doesnt have any real pass rush studs to test our guys...they can definitely test our toughness in the middle though...i cant think of anything on the edge to worry about

as for week 4 thats when most teams either give their starters like one series or rest them outright i hope we rest ours...can't lose anyone in reps against camp fodder

i've been reading the espn.com nfl nation reports on each teams practice every day and i can't find anything like what is on repeat with miami...all the oline issues/concerns...

we are only 5 days into practice but i'm sure not reading all the protection issues etc from other teams reporters...i hope they shore this **** up

I understand that Satele is not a world beater. However, he is vet, that can snap, understand an offense and its protections and identify what the opposition is doing. Not to totally defend Satele, but it was obvious he was not a fit in what Pep Hamilton was trying to do with that offense.

If you do not like Satele, how about Kyle Cook? He is veteran as well.

I still think the team missed out by not signing Fernando Velasco a bit ago.

That said, I think that Garner has to moved there for now, but an veteran C must be signed.

Will Davis seems like he'd be an easy young man to root for, well spoken and had a smile on his face the entire interview. He also said he believes the spot opposite Grimes is wide open. Unfortunately for him I don't see Finnegan losing that spot, if Davis and/or Taylor look great I think Finnegan is the ultra competitor and even if he has to scratch and claw he'll find a way to stay above them. I'm really buying into this stacking positions to create competition philosophy.

Totally agree. I think the only hope Davis/Taylor have of owning that spot is injury to Finnegan. I'm pretty happy with their progression though.

Finnegan is best for nickel. #2 is open. All 3 start so I don't see an issue. Taylor will get lots of playing time

Sounds reasonable. I'll say it again. If Tannehill had the best training camp ever, people would complain that Finnegan sucks, Taylor sucks, Davis sucks, Reshad Jones sucks, etc.

Yeah. I am still with hoops that when I look at the Dolphins, I think Ryan Tannehill is a definite asset, rather than a liability.

I don't know how you look at that OL and that running game and that WR corps after Gibson went down and think "Yeah the QB was holding that unit back."

Their defense is so good that they won playoff games in which their QB only completed 2 passes in the 2nd half. I don't think anyone cares if their offense looks like **** in TC.

i don't know why he keeps saying that stuff the fact is this board would be in the freaking clouds if the oline was a brick wall thru 5 days of camp and they were talking about how damn athletic and stout it is etc...the freaking clouds

we wouldn't be bashing the d cause the oline finally looks like it's a god forbid i say it strength of the team...

The team went through **** similar to this when they tossed Samuda into RG all the summer and then they yanked him and eventually cut him.

I do not get the staff's thought process on so many of these issues.
