Barry Jackson Sports Buzz: Chad Ochocinco unfiltered: He expects 'monster' year

Do you guys think he will be our #1 WR?? i think it will be him and hartline with bess in the slot. If he is one of the two starters i could see him getting about 700-800 yards and 5-7 TD for the year. I would be fine with that, im kinda also hoping clay puts up numbers similar to those also.

1200 and 10 huh...good luck with that

In 2009 he had 74 rec for 1047 yards and 9 TDs. You said what- 600 yards and 5 TDs as a ceiling? Uhh, ok... I don't see around double that as unreasonable. He's 34 and is apparently showing some of the the best speed and quicks- and the best overall talent- of the WR group. The offense will be far more aggressive that the hideous and boring Sparano ball, giving CJ plenty of opportunities to make plays. He will in all likelihood be our #1 receiver in 2012. Be prepared to be wrong- again.

I know they are his team mates and all, but VD and Sean Smith were impressed and raving about Chad during OTAs. He does have a chip on his shoulder, so no doubt he will be serious as a heart attack going in to this thing. My worry, 4 weeks in and we're losing because we still have a stench coming from the QB position and he isn't getting the ball enough... what then? Is his mouth going to be a problem then? Or will his frustration get to him?

Also, I do think he will emerge as the #1 on the team. Who else is really going to challenge for that? Bess? Hartline?

You never know. He could blow up and he could fade, anything is possible. But- the guy is showing outstanding speed and quicks in camp. He's clearly our best and most talented WR as things stand now. This WCO offense will blow the doors off of the Sparano crap imo. The opportunities will be there, and I think that he'll grab them- literally and figuratively. The age issue with CJ is way overplayed imo- the dude is 34 and in great shape, and he's one hell of an athlete. These are obviously all guesses at this point, but I still see CJ stepping up and Bess stepping down. CJ will accelerates offenses, Bess restricts them. Time will tell the tale, as always.

I don't think Chad has ever lacked for confidence.

It IS ridiculous though him equating getting fined with having a good year. He can dance around all he wants if he scores. The rules are very clear now on what he can and can't do.

I hope he gets in a groove and has a monster year but...

Remember he threw a punch at Hue Jackson during halftime when he was a BENGAL.

The only thing I am a little worried about is, what if him having a good camp says more about our CORNERBACKS AND SAFETIES than it does about his current ability?

Hmmm interesting quips Mr. (cough) Johnson! We're all watching!

Truth be told... I like some attitude on this team. Why play the game if you don't expect to be the best?

If Chad were really that miserable, he wouldn't have renegotiated his contract at the beginning of the season to stay with NE. He's just saving face by blaming it on "personality control". If he succeeds, it will be because he's more comfortable in Miami's system not because he can shoot his mouth off more. He can succeed but it's disingenuous to blame it on anybody other than himself. He was given the opportunity to succeed. He didn't take advantage of it. I like Chad and I hope he does better in Miami but I'm disappointed in his statement when it's pretty clear what the issue was.

he clearly states in the article that his numbers dropped because HE became complacent. Not sure what you're trying to get at here...?
