Former Hurricanes Lamar Miller and Olivier Vernon have made strong early impressions on Dolphins teammates. “Lamar’s burst is unreal,” cornerback Sean Smith said. “Every day he’s had at least one 15, 20 yard-run. The guy has great vision.

Vernon has had at least two sacks in training camp, and Cam Wake said there’s no dropoff when he replaces a veteran: “I’m really excited [about him]. He has a lot of spunk.”Said defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers (father of the UM safety): “Oliver has a long way to go technique-wise, but he plays with the right temperament.”…

The Dolphins auditioned former UM guard Joel Figueroa on Monday but opted not to sign him.
If David Garrard wins the starting quarterback job – and he has a slight lead through four days – the hope internally is he can do whatChad Pennington did for them in 2008. “David is a little bit like Chad,” tight end Anthony Fasano said. “They’re both very smart and savvy.”…

Count receiver Jeff Fuller (Texas A&M) and defensive ends Jarrell Root (Boise State) and Derrick Shelby (Utah) among undrafted rookies that have made an early impression in camp.

Good read.

Barry Jackson just kills it when it comes to Dolphins news, and this is the first year I can recall that a large number of people seem to get it. David Hyde is a distant second, and we all know about the rest of the journalistic clown posse down here, with Armando and Omar leading the way.

Yeah Barry has been the cream of the crop for years. I miss Jason Cole as well....and i think Omar has been posting here as a few different draftniks for years now lol.

Dead on about Jason Cole. Great stuff, he and Jackson were a great 1-2 punch for the Herald. The newest clown to enter the arena is this Izzy guy from the Sun Sentinel- he and Omar are like the Dumb and Dumber of Dolphins football. I would still rate Armando as the reigning jackass of the group. His articles usually suck, and he seems obsessed with his twitter count. He's just not that good, and he's annoying. Not nice things to say, but he makes a living critiquing the Dolphins and he's not above a little criticism himself.

Yeah i think them two are clowns as well, i made a joke about how Omar use to be beat up as a kid..........then a few days ago he said it's true, lol.

And i'm not making fun of kids getting beat up , but he's just the kind of person that would happen to over and over again, because he's full of himself and if you don't see things his way then " you just don't understand or are dumb "..............and them kind of people get beat up a lot as kids.

seems like reggie bush is going to be goner with lamar miller looking this good and a lot cheaper option going forward

I appreciated the positive comment on the three undrafted rookies, Fuller, Root and Shelby. First time that Root and Shelby's names have surfaced. Interesting to note that Root comes from the highly successful Boise State program.

Speaking of the clown posse, it was entertaining to watch/hear Omar get shut down by Kevin Coyle. Check his interview from a few days ago on the Phins website.

I don't think Fuller could be snook on to the practice squad...even with a decent showing in pre season, I'm almost sure annother team would swoop in and claim him once final cuts are made.

I'm thinking the same thing about Fuller in particular and also Rishard Matthews. BJ Cunningham- not so much. Fuller kicked ass as a junior, got injured as a senior and fell through the cracks. Great pickup, and he blocks like a beast as well.

Im suprised some reporters have a hard time recognizing what the public really enjoys. We love to hear real stuff about how the players are developing and playing not all this wasted verbage that says nothing...who hangs out with people who say nothing...

Always good to hear. Especially good news about Vernon and we've heard good things about Westerman as well. Those guys are going to need to produce some pressure if we want to have an elite defense this year.
