Baseball Infield STINKS!

Send me a PM when the Marlins or Heat are bigger than the Dolphins. I'll expect it when I see pigs flying by outside my window, or when hell gets extremely chilly.

Not only that, but then there's the argument that is true but surely won't be popular on this board: the Marlins have won two championships in 7 years. The Dolphins are known for not coming through. Last year when the Dolphins stunk, attendance sagged as well for that team. Face it, this isn't a football town, it's a winner's town, and as long as the Dolphins are in the toilet, fans will gravitate towards the Heat, the team du jour right now.

OK, tell me when you can refute the argument that the Marlins have won two championships in that span and the Dolphins not since 1973. Are the Dolphins the most popular team in South Florida? Yes. Are fans fairweather? Yes. Were crowds sparse by the end of last season? Yes. Are we getting away from the whole point of this thread, which I addressed in the first two paragraphs of my initial post? Yes.

I'd like to see what the popular opinion on that is, but every time I've brought it up here, it goes ignored.

Yes this subject has been covered many times....I say if the Marlins want to play in Dolphins stadium than they have to play on an "all grass" infield...I would just leave some dirt for the mound and batter's box, and have these areas covered with some artificial turf when the Dolphins play on it until the Marlins are done for the year.

I'm calling your claim that "Miami is not a football town" misinformed. I'm don't refute the facts (Marlins won 2 championships...), I refute your opinions. If the people of Miami just love winners, why aren't they all over the Marlin's nutz right now, who are in the middle of the wildcard hunt, instead of the Dolphin's, who most don't expect much out of (this year)?

Cost us that game against the pats a few years back when mare missed 2 easy kicks off the infield dirt

the dirt did not cause those misses. Our ignorant azz unprepared kicker failed to take advantage of "home feild advantage" and missed. Only a couple of kickers have such an advantage and ours was unprepared. I HATE the dirt, that red clay is sharp and it chafes and it gets instant divits but our kicker should be the best "dirt" kicker on the planet. After all it's HIS dirt, no excuses, make it work.

I need to go on a rant here...

I really want Marlin's fans to shut the hell up about Huizinga screwing them over. He sold the championship team off 8 FREAKING YEARS AGO! Now I was a Marlins' fan. How can I prove it? I have a freakin' Benito Santiago Marlins jersey upstairs burried in a closet somewhere. Now I hate them because their success propogates injuries for my REAL favorite team. Still, though, you'd think that when the Marlin's were able to put together another championship year, that their fans' whining and complaining would stop, but it hasn't. They still complain about how Huizinga screwed them. LET IT GO. The 'Riders (our local CFL team) have had consistently poor seasons, consistently bad ownership, they've lost countless players solely because they won't pay them, but the fans still come out to the games in droves.

So one more time... just to clarify... SUCK IT UP. HE'S NOT YOUR OWNER ANYMORE!

Now just so I don't get too far off topic. I've posted in another thread (one of my first posts) about how much I hate the infield. I literally cringe whenever I see them on that end of the field (offense or defense). I don't know what can be done, though. You can't just pull up the field and lay sod - we'd have way more injuries. Still, I wish there was something that could be done...

You don't need to tell me that. Once again, no one is addressing the fact that as the owner of the stadium, he collects all fees from concessions, luxury boxes, parking, etc. That is the reason why the Marlins can't move out. If you want them out, write a letter to Huizenga telling him that his greed is counteractive to his team's success.

And if you want Marlins fans to stop whining about Wayne, tell other Dolphins fans to stop saying that no one cares about the Marlins.

And in other words, you're jealous.

If I remember correctly Dan Marino hurt his ankle on grass not infield dirt.

I'm surprised no one mentioned how bad the field looks with the infield there in the middle of a football game. I hate watching football and seeing an infield in the middle of it and my favorite sport is baseball. I like the idea of putting grass over the infield for the football games but not kicking out the Marlins because they play at Dolphins Stadium.

I have to also agree with everything RWhitney says, he knows his SoFla stuff.
