Battle line\Gadget Plays.

Found this under the picture on the right side of this article..wow..

WILD CARD

During the morning practice, Marty Booker threw a pass to Chris Chambers in the end zone on a gadget play. And at the start of the afternoon workout, Booker also took warmup snaps with the other four quarterbacks. Might Booker -- a former high school quarterback -- be utilized more this season as a passer? It appears possible.

This seems like it's goning to be an exciting year.

So, if Alabi does win thr RT job-- I still view SHelton as the favorite-- do we move Shelton to guard since he played pretty well there last season. We could then field a line that looks like this:

Carey
Shelton
Satele
Hadnot
Alabi

Not bad if Alabi proves a better player than Shelton.

What do you think?

I like it...Shelton and Carey played well last year next to each other so I think we should give that a try on the left. They both know each other styles of blocking and are used to playing together

We used a gadget play in 2004 on a reverse pass option to Booker and he hit Chambers for about 50 yards. I forgot who we were playing though

It was the Rams! Great play and Chambers took the slant pattern later in the game to house, 65 yards or something. It was the fastest i have ever seen Chambers run. The Tony Bua hit was that game too...

I think we played the Rams, it was our first win of that season i think.

Good call!

That was the first win of the season and we thumped them 31-14

Fiedler threw 2 TD's and no picks and Chambers averaged 43 YPC

...and calling them the majority of the time. I realize Cam should know when to use them but I still have a bad taste in my mouth form last season.

lol Murlakey sucked, I am glad we have a great offensive coach coaching our offense and a great defensive coach coaching our defense.

The one part of the article that caught my eye was where he said this has been the plan the entire time for Alabi.

Me too Im glad we have a head coach that actually lets his staff utilize their strengths.

Maybee the back up plan because I thought Alabi was supost to be the left tackle.

The original plan was for Alabi to start at LT and Carey at RT. They switched Carey over to LT, but maybe they figured the same two to remain starters. Very possible that Shelton was first string just because Alabi was hurt...
