Battle lines being drawn around Ronnie Brown

I stand where I've always stood.

I was in support of the pick and, think we got the best of the trio that everyone thought were the top three backs.

I think Ronnie has the potential to be our best running back ever.

I think he has shown flashes of being what I think he can be, though, he cannot stay healthy consistantly. He must stay healthy consistantly to be what the people on one end of the spectrum think he is, which is a top 3-5 level back. He is not that now.

I must see him hit the benchmarks required of an elite back 13-1500 yds/season + recieveing before I line up on the one side of the spectrum. He also has not lived up to his draft position, which is not his fault, but, it's a marker that he will carry for his whole career, fair or not, just like Ginn....Just like every high pick. I am not on the bust side of the spectrum, because he has not shown that yet either. Sadly, I believe if he misses more than 5 games in any more of the next three seasons, you have to lean to the "Bust "side.

5 games total or fifteen games total over 3 years...?

I have said since day 1, Ronnie is a beast. If people want to fight over what label to put on him they can go ahead. If you want to call him a bust that is fine. I will just watch that bust dominate games when he is healthy and getting carries. If you want to call him elite, that is fine with me as well. I am just going to enjoy watching him run. Everyone else can continue fighting over the label. I am done.

Nice article btw.

I did not express that as well as I thought. What I meant to say was, if he misses 5+ games in any of the next three seasons. Like...5+ this season, or next season, or the one after that. If he misses 5 games in three years I'm completely ok with that. My point being, he's got three years to lay claim to what people on the "Elite" side of the aisle think he is before he starts a natrual decline.

I'm a fan of both and I don't care who starts and who is the backup. I just want them to dominate...period!

R. Brown has shown he can take over a game....he now has to show he can play in 16 games in a season.

Ronnie Brown is better than ricky williams. And ricky williams is better than most of the leagues #2 running backs. We have a great duo on our team.

i wish we could have had ronnie in 1990, marks brothers, danny, web sims, edmunds at te, tony paige at fb, a man can dream cant he...

Ronnie Brown is an absolute monster when he's on the field! Sure you can point to his injuries as a negative, but he hasn't always been put in the best situations. How quickly we forget how impressive Ronnie was in 2007 up until the point that he injured his knee trying to make a tackle he never should have had to make. The man was playing on an absolute garbage roster last year and was still on his way to a pro bowl season.
Yeah, some will want to scrap Brown at season's end in favor for the next big college draftee of free agent recruit but just remember my friends, the grass is always greener on the other side (to borrow a cliche)

Ronnie Brown is good but to say he is better than Ricky I would not go that far he has to earn that right first.

I don't think anyone realistically should question the Brown pick. (even before the Pats fan) Ginn on the other hand....is a different story.

Well if Brown wants to be considered an elite back in this league now is his chance. Injury bug has bitten L.T. Westbrook and even Adrian Peterson. IF Brown can stay healthy and have a few more multiple t.d. games than i dont think there is a question that he will be considered top 5 or 3 this year.
P.S. Brown=Beast of nature

i will take ronnie over ricky any day (lucky me, i dont have to). ronnie is a better athlete.. he runs angry, fast, and his vision is much better than those give credit.. i point to the 2007 browns game, and the game against the raiders. He is going to dominate once again, chargers fans better hope we dont run on them like the vikings did last year. ronnie is in the same mold as a.p... give ronnie the ball, and with our new improved offensive line and run defense, we shouldnt have a problem against these guys... I cant wait till ronnie has another career day come week 5!
