BC of Vick, NFL should change QB contact rules.

There were a few calls yesterday that got me upset concerning Vick. The accidental face mask was one of them but I understand that its a dangerous thing to do. However, The call that prompted me to start this post was the personal foul for knocking Vick out of bounds while he was running the ball in the second quarter. That call had me out of my seat yelling at the TV.

If your a QB and decide to take off up the field like a RB it should be open season on taking you down. Vick is known as a running threat and our team was doing what it could to contain him yesterday. Knocking a dangerous running QB out of bounds should not be considered roughing the passer or a personal foul. I think that penalty added 15 yards to his run.

I feel the NFL should seriously look at its rules about this kind of QB play.

(Good game though. I feel the team is improving.)

That was a horrible call as the qb was in bounds at the time of the hit.

that is true. But I thought that as the game went on our D had some nice (and even an iffy one or two) hits on Vick that didn't get flagged.

i saw that hit. a small part of his foot touched the line. IMO, they should not have called it. but they did. if vick wants to avoid a hit, he should make sure to be out of bounds before the defender gets there.

i think the QB should be allowed to slide, but once they cross that line, they are a RB. i have seen several hits, just like the one put on vick, put on a RB, and noone even thinks twice about it.

but the NFL will always defend their QBs.

the facemask was a good call..it was accidental, but that same call gets made if it were on a running back. however, the one on the sidelines was terrible. Weve seen vick fake toward the sidelines and cut in quickly so many times. Its the defenders job to make sure the play is over. The whistle had not blown and he was not all the way out, therefore he hadto be hit.

if it was on a RB in the open field, with a ref right there, it would be called. it was obvious. made even more so, when vick tried to adjust his facemask after the fact while running.

there were 2 fouls on that play, did they just accept the 15 yarder or did they add on the 5 yard face mask, for a total of 20 yards?? :confused:

Did you see the same game everyone else saw? Even the FOX commentators said it was a garbage call. How many times have we seen Vick cut back. He does it faster than anyone. Schulters was making damn sure he got out of bounds...if his toe was barely on the line so what? They better start calling that for every player that "intends" to go out of bounds. Of course that won't happen, but that's what the inention of the call was.

i think he gets a lot more calls because hes always running. players chasing after him, only to step out of bounds just before they get there. most other QBs stand in the pocket and its all about hitting him before he throws the ball.

its nothing like what they do for Brady. im surprised the refs dont smack him on the *** every time he comes on the field. :barf:

That was a BS call he was slowing down inbounds. Schulters was in the right to knock the SH*T out of him. Anyways the defense made up for it on a few other hits they gave him.

What about that hit Crowder gave that RB, That was a knock out.:)

Vick was not out of bounds. He has slowed up, but was still in play. He could have easily turned back up field for more yards.

Back years ago I watched Danny White pull that very play because the defender pulled up & did not hit him, then later in the game when it happened again the defender took him out & they tossed a flag.

It was a horrible call.

Also did anyone else not notice when they hit Chambers later in the game doing the same thing no flag was tossed?
