Stallworth, Welker, Washington, Watson, Maroney, and now - Randy Moss.

How can we possibly defend that? It's almost unfair how much players want to play for the Patriots. They like the NFL's version of the Yankees, except players take paycuts just to be there.

Welker is a dependable possession receiver, Stallworth is pretty good but not awe-inspiring, Moss is more likely to be cut or benched for pissing of Belicheck, Washington hasn't proven to be anything special yet, and Waston and Maroney don't necessarily scare anybody.

Looks to me like NE has a solid group of skill position guys, but so do other teams. So will we, by the time it's all said and done, for that matter.

And remember, they've got to keep JT and JP off of Tom Brady before those receivers will even matter much.

Barring injuries or a huge meltdown, NE is a lock for the AFC championship game. I'd be willing to bet a hundred they win the SB.

Nice to see the lack of confidence you have in Miami. We normally split with them each yr and I'll bet a 100 we do again at least.

Maroney scares me. He looks like Ricky used to look.

NE does have good position players now, but they never needed those to win in the past.

They will be a lock to win the division, but I like what Miami has done so far in the draft. Although I will admit I was pretty shocked when they didn't pick Quinn. And I am not a big fan of Ginn.

Fins hopefully will still have enough left in the tank of the D for a few more years, because I don't see us take the division from the Pats, as much as I hate to say it.

Just because we split with them doesn't mean that we won enough games to make it to the playoffs.

I will bet you that the Patriots don't even make the playoffs. Whenever a team accumulates that many free agents they never form a cohesive unit. Its happened many times. Start with the 1995 Dolphins for example.

i dont think randy moss wil do anything for patriots, i meen come on, brady is not a deep down passer and look at ll the patriots stars-no big egos, moss + patriots=disaster for them

New England has a ton of money locked up in receivers. Randy Moss' restructure will not be cheap, plus they've got Donte' Stallworth on a $39 million deal, Wes Welker on an $18 million deal, and Kelley Washington on a $22 million deal (assuming the Pats pick up the roster bonus after this season). Plus Reche Caldwell hit an escalator clause in his contract for 2007, and they still have Chad Jackson and Jabar Gaffney under contract.

You make a valid point. Sometimes when you accumulate a bunch of big names you lose chemistry. The Pats were always about the sum being better than all the parts.
Someone brought up the Yankees in an earlier post. I seem to recall them losing the 2003 World Series to a young, hungry Marlins team despite having more than twice the payroll.

Exactly! BB has strayed from the path that has been so successful for the Pats the past few years: no big superstars, but one hell of a team.

Now they have superstars, but there's no telling if they can ever have the "Patriots" team chemistry...

IMO.

first off it's refreshing to not see another negative dolphin draft thread
but i must admit i don't think we have enough quality corners to cover all their wideouts and i heard that moss was recently clocked running sub 4.3

The homerism is rampant again, if we got moss we would be gushing. Nepaica lets make an honest bet. If the Patriots miss the playoffs i pay you 5,000 dollars. If the the Pats make the Playoffs you pay me 500 dollars. You honestly believe as a football fan the Patriots wont make the palyoffs. last year they lost their entire recieving core and still made the AFCCG, and now they get 2 of the best WR's available and that will make them worse. I hate reading posts when i know posters dont even believe their own posts. People said the same thing when they got harrison and dillon, they were cancers that would ruin the team. Lets face it they are what we want to be. And lets study some of the facts. Stallworth and Washington are not signed to big deals, they are 1 year contracts with options. its the simple facts, even though I know claiming they are all signed to 100 million dollar contracts makes your argument sound so much bette, but to some of us non ignorant fans, its an insult to make up information when your trying to m
