I'm a diehard finfan but I'm also realistic. When Brady comes back for the Pats miami is in big trouble. Unless we get The Giants D-line, be prepared to get lit up. I love what this team has done, but we might need 2 or more years to catch up. No secondary is going to stop the patriots next year, so don't worry whether we get Bodden, Mcfadden or whoever. They had to suffer while we had Marino all those years and now it's our turn. Don't get me wrong I think we have a good shot at the playoffs, but I don't think Peppers could even get us over the hump. Do you not think Parcell's knows this? Draft, Draft, Draft. I'm just pumped that we're competitive again, but I wouldn't get Superbowl aspirations quite yet. If we had Marino still, then maybe things are different. I think we need to start stealing a few of their players over the next couple of years(Wilfork) and maybe we could get closer. What team can shut Moss and Welker down?
Pass-rushers, Pass-rushers is what we need. It can be done.

I love these pessimistic posts. You must be a student of the Obama school of psychology.
Marino put up lofty numbers, but he lost in the AFC championship to a Pats team that had a good defense (Andre Tippett), particularly in the secondary (Lippett, Marion).
The Pats O-line is a solid, but unspectacular group. Richard Seymour can't finish a 16 game season. By continuing to focus on the defense and O-line we can certainly control the line of scrimmage against them and THAT is the key to beating the Pats.
They have lost Vrabel and Bruschi is getting older and slower (heart and soul of their defense). They are thin in the secondary as well.
More importantly, they lost Pioli. BB is not as good at evaluating talent as Pioli.
I like our chances

The Patriots should be favored to win the division this year with Brady back, and the weakness of the 3-4 defense is the passing game from a spread offense. Two good safeties will help, but there is no doubt that it will be a challenge.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's tough when a team just goes shotgun,4 wide, and then throws to a running back, after you played the right d. I agree their o-line has weakened. But Cassel lit us up. Cassel is no Tom Brady. The shotgun over and over again is tough to stop. Maybe we should videotape their plays!

Drafting Darius Butler would help. Butler as the nickel with a SS/OLB hybrid like Phillip Hodge in as well would help.

Hodge could even be available in the 7th and would be perfect against the spread offense.

Peppers????? 6'6" 290 runs a 4.5 something, just doesn't sound human.

lol yeah I have a good camera... me and you could tape their plays and sell them to the miami's front office:rimshot: mad money

I just love how pessimists think they are being realistic and only they have a grasp on the truth.

If predicting the future were so easy; we'd all be TV weathermen and/or work on Wall St.

Well to an extent you have a point, however they only have 2 Wr's now in Moss and Welker. If we can get someone to shutdown Welker, I believe our safeties will put the fear of God in "lazy *** I take plays off and am scared of contact" Moss. We definitely need to get pressure on Brady but I think the Pats are going to change but a bit no more 5 WR sets gone are likes of Gaffney, Stallworth and they signed Fred Taylor and Chris Baker.

Oh so you are from the Bush school of "Mission Accomplished"?

I actually think that is a ridiculous thought, nobody can stop the patriots when they have Tom Brady? They have Moss and Welker? OK. The Pats just lost one of their top veterans that provided leadership. Their entire defense is aging rapidly. God nows what Brady is going to be like, lots of players never fully recover. Our young players from last year are getting better and now understand the NFL game more. Blanket statements don't work, you just never know. Is this team ready to beat the Patriots of 2 years ago, probably not - luckily we just have to play the one they put on the field in 2009. Right now, nobody knows how good that team will be or how good the Fins will be either.

That offense played just about a perfect game against the Dolphins with Cassal in the 2nd meeting. I am trying to remember, was there a New England possession that didn't end in points? That was one of the best games of the year on offense for the Dolphins and they still lost:( With either Brady or Cassal the Dolphins need more talent on defense to stop these explosive offenses. Wilson is a nice start:up: I can't wait to see how the draft works out.

We don't need, nor are we looking for the GIANTS front line .... what we need and are looking for is a game changing OLB (whose name is not Joey Porter).

Can CW be that guy -- time will tell ... the problem is, we sure won't draft high enough to pick one up there. So, anything short of picking up JPeppers -- we won't go into this season with that requirement filled either ... unless of course we struck gold with CW.

Our DL is solid, LB corps is average, CB tandem is average, and S team is now solid. We will add to the LB & CB mix for sure, and if we can find another project for NT we will do that too.

DEFENSE is what is going to bring a SB to MIA .....

I for one am just not afraid of Brady coming off the injury. I think he just won't be the same. Maybe a little more tentative or not able to run up the middle so much.
But then again I do not line up opposite of on Sundays nor does my job rely on aquiring the correct personnel to stop him...

The Pats O is much like the Colts you cant stop them you can only hope to contain them. I think the thing that is more thought provoking is if the rumor of them trading for Julius Peppers comes thru. That guy would be like JT on steriods if he moved ot that hybrid position.

I wouldnt just assume Brady will be 'Brady-like' next year. He's coming off a MAJOR knee injury that at one point some were thinking his career was over. He might still be pretty good, but I wouldnt expect him to be AS GOOD this upcoming season as he has been in the past.
