With Quinn pretty much gone at 9 OL should be the obvious pick. Or best aviable. Can Levi Brown really make a big impact at the start of the season? The sad question is yes, there are players on the roster that were said to show promise but they are unproven. I would prefer that the Fins go into the season with a guy like Brown confident he can get the job done and still need work to dominate. With the first four picks 1st, 2nd, 2nd 3rd the Fins need OL, WR, and CB. Not in that order. Ted Ginn is not worth the 9th pick nor is any CB or QB past Quinn and Russel. So I feel the Fins should draft.
1st Levi Brown
2nd Drew Stanton (who is working out in Miami)
2nd WR (Meachem, Rice, McKnight)
3rd CB (one is bound to fall)

Thoughts.

I think levi could step right in and play. His stock has fallen a bit according to some, but I feel that if cam wants him than houck can make it work.
Levi is good there is no doubt about it, Jake long would be a lot better next year, but if we are drafting that high next year, I may puke.

the only problem I saw with brown at penn state is it seems like he gets tired at times and takes some plays off. He starts leaning and than catches his wind a few plays or even a series later. He will really have to work on his stamina if he is going to be successful. I like that he is quiet, not the type to get into trouble. I have heard he works hard, which leads me to believe why it looks like he is out of shape sometimes. I also saw him false start more than his fair share, and that can kill momentum.
I think with good coaching though, which is what we have, he could be our starter next year.

stanton in the second I would love I have already made this known a few times.
meachem and rice the same way.

corners.....Kenny scott is a possibility. He is 6'1" which is what I would like to see us have. I hate having the shorter CB's, I just think it is one more disadvantage. I realize it is rare to have height at the CB position, but it can only help. He has a solid frame and could bulk up a bit if they asked him too.

Neither Meacham or Rice will be there at 60, and mcKnight is a 2nd day pick IMO.

Levi Brown isn't a bona fide lock to be an impact player. He's no different than those other players on the roster which you refer to as unproven. Many a highly rated LT prospect has been humbled by the speed rushers in the NFL.
At the 9 position the BPA will be Landry. He has a better chance to be an impact player than Brown IMHO. We also have Alabi as our future LT. He is an athletic tackle whose only downside was lack of strength. I believe the last 2 seasons our trainers have improved that.

You're assuming both Brown and Landry will be there at 9. it isn't unreasonable to think both will be gone.

Levi Brown will be a star on our O-line for many years....I don't think a WR or CB should be taken at #9.

True, but I look at the draft order and think about all the possible permutations. Unless someone trades up ahead of the Fins I don't see anybody taking him before 9.

Brady is the first choice
If not him, and it pains me to say it, we will likely take Branch, Okoye or Landry.

I dont like Levi at all. Plus you should go read Boomers post on the main forum-he says its likely we dont take Brown and stay pat with Alabi and take someone in the other rounds.

The Cards or Texans could take Brown.

The Texans or Vikes could take Landry.
