If you took over the reigns after this season, what moves would you make to bring the Phins back into contention as quickly as possible?

Please post realistic scenarios.. Free Agency and Draft.

you stold my post...I was about to post the same question...

Who would you guys keep and who would you guys cut??

If I was GM i think id do this....

1. Fire Wanstetd
2. Fire Speilman (maybe offer him the position he had before GM)
3. Get a new OC
4. I would consider changing ST coach

then, cut these players:

Feeley
Fiedler
E.Moore
S.McKinney
W.Smith
Easlick
St. Clair
Jerman

1) fire wannstedt
2) fire spielman
3) fire trestman
4) fire collier
5) fire whoever the O-line coach is
6) fire Foerster who's using Norv's old playbook for ricky
7) get rid of feeley
8) draft a new QB (keep fiedler as a backup)
9) get back the old O-line
10) not be afraid to pay big bucks for good O-linemen
11) release the overpaid D players who are not worth their monies
12) get a GOOD offensive coordinator
13) bring back those good special teams players we had that we let go

Bring in an offensive guru like a Charlie Weiss type, or go young and take a Saban or Ferentz from Iowa. Let some vets walk or deal them for anything, and trade the #1 over all pick for multiple day one picks and a future high pick. SD got picks this year and a 1 and a 5 next year to move 4 spots.

Well, I would first really consider taking a QB with the 1st round pick. If not a QB, an Offensive Lineman. Pick up AT LEAST one big name possibly even a Pro Bowl Offensive Lineman. Promote Carey from the bench(don't know why he hasn't yet) to Right Tackle. I want the line to look like this:

LT- FA Pickup
LG- Jeno James
C- FA Pickup/Draft Pick
RG- FA Pickup or maybe even move McIntosh inside.
RT- Vernon Carey

-I would cut or let Tim Bowens retire.
-Re-sign Byron Robinson to a 1-year deal.
-Draft a DT in the 3rd round.
-Rework Seau's contract so it is a lower cap hit.
-Possibly trade Surtain for a 1st round draft pick and possibly OL help.
-Cut Fiedler(not the answer and costs to much)
-Pick up a veteran QB(kind of like the Giants and let the Draft QB get some experience)
-Sign Edge

1) DJ Dolphin...Love the choices for coach...I love Ferentz from Iowa, Weiss from NE and Saban...
2) Feeley is my quarterback...When he has the time, he definetly has the skill...He just doesnt have the experience...If I had to say, sign Matt Hasselback that is possible...But I wouldnt give up on Feeley...
3) Do my all to draft Cedric Benson to take over at RB...
4) Trade the Rights to Ricky Williams for a 1st...Use that pick on a DT...
5) Sign the best RG or RT or LT in FA...
6) Look for an offensive line of McIntosh, James, McKinney, Carey and the new FA olineman...
7) try and fix the special teams with signings...

It is simple.....

Our need positions (in no paticular order).....DT, QB, RB, O-line, KR/PR, LB

--First, get a VP/GM and head coach combo you can trust
-Unless we can get a Peyton Manning type player, trade down and get more picks!
-Get o-linemen in FA
-Draft in round 1 a QB or RB (best player at either position)
-Whichever one you don't get you better get in Free Agency.
-The defense needs to be replenished, especially the front 7. Bowens is probably done. A stud DT is needed badly.

1) Fire Wanny, Wise, Armstrong and Foerrster.

2) Hire a hard a$$ coach (I have no idea who that would be...just don't hire a college coach... Jack Del Rio looks pretty damn good right now). Make sure he promotes Marc Trestman to offensive coordinator, keeps Jerry Sullivan and (gasp) Jim Bates.

3) The defense stays the same...with the possible exception of trading Pat Surtain for draft picks.

4) Marc Trestman brings in his version of the West Coast offense. He ran it in Saf Fran and Oakland and A.J. ran it in Philly. In my opinion...we keep A.J....and draft a Q.B. in the first three rounds...if we get mulitple picks for our #1.

5) Figure out what we have on the O-line. I think McKintosh is o.k., so is James. MsKinney is a questionmark, Taylor Whitley is TERRIBLE and cut John St. Clairs a$$ on the first day of work. Put Vernon Carey at gaurd for good...and work from there.

6) Trade our top 5 draft pick for mulitple picks. Hype the pick, get teams excited about it and then flip it...hopefully for a top 15, a #2 and a #4...

This team is a mess...

who's your backup QB? Sage? he's more a deer in headlights than Feeley is, and he KNOWS the system.

and why's everyone saying to trade Surtain? trade MADISON for draft picks and keep Surtain... Surtain's fresher and cheaper at this point.

First, take a look at the team that's actually doing something RIGHT (New England) and get as many personnel as you can from them. Either Charlie Weis or Romeo Crennell would work, and hire Scott Pioli to GM the team. Let them do the rest and it will almost assuredly be the right thing.

Fire Wanny and his staff, along with Rick.

Then hire a new GM and let him find a coach and staff he can work with. Let them go about building the team as they see fit, with the condition that they try to build quick with a vet QB and vet OL guys we could get a year or two out of. I'd keep Feeley as a back-up and possible shot at starting.

I'd like to give the vets on our defense ONE more shot at a Super Bowl ring before letting guys go, etc. It that doesnt' work, we build through the draft to replace a lot of the defense. I'd lock the new coach and GM into contracts for 4-5 years and let them alone.

Trade our #1 for a low teens pick and a second rounder. If it is a top five pick, then I'd want first, second this year and another first in 2006.

As bad as it is now? I really think with a real coach and better OL, and maybe QB and HB, this team is right back to playoff caliber in 2005.

1) Fire Wanny and his entire staff
2) Look into trading Surtain and do it if the value is there
3) Draft for value in the first round, even if that means not addressing a position that looks to be a need. Imagine doing that with Jackson or Wilfolk this year.
4) Make a limited number of FA plays for important guys on the OL and for a decent veteran QB to pair with Jay Fiedler. In the alternative, retain AJ to pair with Fiedler if your coaching staff really wants to go down that road. QB really isn't that huge a need to reach in the draft for a guy.
5) Play the RB situation smart. Find our version of Thomas Jones.

romeo crennell is very attainable.
i like that idea.

**EDIT - ain't this sick? we're talking about this crap and its only the 3rd week!
