General manager Jerry Angelo has pledged to address the position, even saying help likely will come through the draft. Toward that end, college scouting director Greg Gabriel is in Chapel Hill, N.C., today for North Carolina's pro day, where wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is the featured attraction.

The Bears' interest in Nicks doesn't end there. Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake is expected to put him through a private workout as early as next week. After the consensus top two receivers, Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin, Nicks is in a small group in the next tier that could begin coming off the draft board in the middle of the first round. The Bears have the 18th pick.

MUHAHAHA...looks like the TRIFECTA'S Smokescreen is working!!

my roomate is a big bears fan..
He wants Nicks and I want Nicks.

heres to hoping the Bears sign a DE/OL/QB first round..

no it isnt..
he's the 3rd best WR.. maclin and crab might be gone in top 10, let alone top 18.. Nicks is a reach there but only a slight one. If he pans out he's not a reach at all.. As long as Hbey or Harvin dont tear it up more than him

He isnt the 3rd best
Crabtree
Maclin
DHB
Harvin
Nicks/Britt -some have Nicks other have Britt. So ya it is

We have way larger needs then receiver, I doubt very much if he falls to us, that we take him in the 1st.

On the other hand if by some miracle he slides to our 2nd, then there is a good chance we pull the trigger, but that is doubtful, he is too good a receiver, and is moving up way to fast.

Nicks is the third best WR. DHB has talent but still is raw with his route running, and personally Harvin is over rated. The guy is an injury waiting to happen. I want a guy that I know I can depend on especially in the first round.

:logic:
