General manager Jerry Angelo has pledged to address the position, even saying help likely will come through the draft. Toward that end, college scouting director Greg Gabriel is in Chapel Hill, N.C., today for North Carolina's pro day, where wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is the featured attraction.
The Bears' interest in Nicks doesn't end there. Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake is expected to put him through a private workout as early as next week. After the consensus top two receivers, Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin, Nicks is in a small group in the next tier that could begin coming off the draft board in the middle of the first round. The Bears have the 18th pick.
