ESPN Bears reporter Jeff Dickerson believes Chicago could look to trade or release LG Matt Slauson.
Slauson was Pro Football Focus' No. 18 overall guard out of 82 qualifiers last season, receiving strong marks for both his pass and run blocking. But he just turned 30 and set to count $3.405 million against the cap.

Should we be interested?

sure why not. I know many think 30 is an old age, but its really not. He's far better than what we currently have.

Assuming he is healthy and there aren't any other issues, I'd be willing to trade a 5th for a guy they are considering releasing to ensure that we get him. Gase will be familiar with him.

Hell yeah we should be interested. My question is, why do the the Bears want to dump him?

Exactly- I trust in Gase on this one

Exactly. I'm for trading, preferably a 6th or 7th. And 30 isn't REAL old for an OG, depending on injury history. OTOH, I'll have to assume NOT going after him means Gase knows more than I do.

6th or 7th would be perfect or maybe a 5th for him plus their 6th or 7th.

If the Bears don't think he's worth a $3 million cap hit then he's gotta be a washed-up bum. $3 million for a starting guard is chump-change so me must not be someone who the Bears feel can help them win football games.
I'd kick the tires but it's not like the Bears O-line was crushing it last year.

I'd give a 6th or 7th for him and if we can get him to restructure a bit then It'd be icing on the cake. Go get him TBaum.
