who is this beason lb from miami that many ppl like? strenghts? weakness? speed? from waht i have seen, he has barely recorded any sacks at college. I think only about 2 or 3 if im not mistakening. how owuld that fill a SOLB role?

Jon Beason 6' 235 lbs. Can play all three LB positions and led the Hurricanes in total tackles with 91. Runs in the 4.6 40 range. A converted FB who finished 18th in the 2006 ACC Indoor Track and Field long jump competition.

SOLB usually don't get many sacks because they are usually playing over the TE and are used in coverage more than blitzing.

from what i see SOLb usually carry more Sacks b/c they blitz far more then WOLB.

Not necessarily. Lawrence Taylor - who revolutionized the OLB position, Joey Porter, Jason Taylor - most of the time when he's playing LB, are both weakside guys in the 3-4. Lance Briggs is a weakside guy in the 4-3. They often get more sacks due to not having a TE on their side to block them. SOLB are more run-stoppers who are bigger and can handle the TE. I think the main exception in today's game would be Adalius Thomas, who can play DE, CB and S as well as all the LB spots. But generally, it seems the weaksiders get more sacks in blitzing schemes.

Beason is fast!
The guy ran track at UM and, if I'm not mistaken, actually got to go to UM because of a track scholarship. He's the kind of player that was always on the TV screen at home. Whether he or someone else made the tackle, he was never far from the ball.
I like him a lot, and Mike Mayock surprised me because he thinks he's the top outside linebacker in the draft. He never really got that much recognition while in college, but he's definitely a good OLB.

He is the same kind of LB as Derrick Pope. Almost the same size. Great tackler. Not a good fit. Jarvis Moss the tweaner would be better for us.
