I was curious how Beck matched up with other 26 year old QB's so I looked it up.

Personally I don't lesson my opinions because Beck was a Rookie because it is what it is, these guys all are the same age unless otherwise noted. Also I don't care if he only played 5 games, again, that's to his discredit for not being ready or good enough to play.

Name Games Comp% QB Rate TD/INT FUM/Lost
Beck 5 56.1 62.0 1/3 7/5

Guys who look without a future in the NFL but currently playing

Carr 16 60.5 77.2 14/11 17/6
Harringtton 12 57.0 72.0 12/12 7/4
Grossman 16 54.6 73.9 23/20 8/5
Boller 12 61.1 75.2 9/10 5/4
Jackson 24 yrs (Min)12 58.2 70.8 9/12 5/3

Historical Busts

Wienke (Rook@29) 15 54.3 62.0 11/19 11/3
Blackledge 10 45.5 67.6 10/6 0/0
Leaf 4 51.1 57.7 1/3 4/2
Mirer 15 53.5 63.7 13/20 5/2
Klingler 10 56.7 65.7 6/9 7/6

Looking at these numbers I don't know how any Miami fan can say we shouldn't have a very good back up plan in the works.

yea man your so right i wish he would just put up 300 yard games 3 td's a game last season as a rookie with our 3rd string runningback derek hagan our 2nd string and sometimes 1st horrible pass blocking line david martin our pro bowl tightend our great head coach calling the shots and being forced to comeback every game because our 32nd ranked defense man i wished he performed better so since he didnt i think hes a bust!

Other players, most the other players on that list also played on bad teams. The excuse is a wash. Being a Rookie isn't an excuse either. The other guys were young as well.

wow I think this is the first thread ever with facts that I consider spam. good job

Maybe you should do a little more research and tell us how many of those QB's were limited to snaps throughout the entire off season and 11 games into the regular season then asked to take the field to start for an 0-11 football team.

Then go a little farther and tell us how many of the remaining didn't have their best WR (traded to San Diego) their best RB out for the year with a knee injury, their best MLB out for the year with injuries, their best S out for the year with an injury. A rookie HC and an entirely new coaching staff. With a rookie C and rookie WR, a rookie FB and the QB himself was rookie.

I just wonder how many of the players in your list above went into the same circumstances? Oh and Beck was a middle of the 2nd round pick while I think Mirer, Carr and Harrington were all top 3 picks.

How about we just concede that no matter what is said you will always find an excuse.

Again. This a stats for 26 year old QB's (for the most part). They play for bad teams. Beck isn't the only one who had little help and him not being ready to start isn't anyones fault but his own.

Excuses? You just said,

Facts are facts...

I also used facts, did I not???

Who cares if he is 26? The fact is he decided to go on a mission for his church and he is probably a great deal more mature than a lot of guys his age. He also has not taken the physical beating that a lot of QB's have for his age. You should give him a chance.

age is not relevant to the conversation
it is a matter of how much NFL experience you have as it is a way different thing from college
so yes, being a rookie is a huge issue
he is 26 because he took time off from football, not because he wasn't good enough to start

i am not saying beck is the answer, but this is a silly argument to make
take a look a brett farves first 5 games...

you can find stats for anything.. this is just silly

Again, 26 years old. Not first 5 games.

BTW the season he was 26 years old Farve had 4413 yards and a QB rating over 99...so you might wanna tone down the comparisons.

I don't think Peyton Manning lit it up in his 1st 5 games either.

first of all your darn sig of Long is AWEsOME!!!!! that got me really hyped up for next weekend!

2nd, i agree with you 100%. but you wna know hte worst part about all that u said? the fact taht more then half of those ppl u claimed to be "our best" taht wre missing are either 324234 yrs old and about to retire or are nothing more then solid number 2 WR, a good S as a back up if not a starter and so forth. Just to show how bad of a roster we had and beck was thrown in to save nothing but 2nd and 3rd stringers. MIND you that we had worrel a 3rd stringer starting and bryan or w/e that PS Safety came in towards the last few games AND on top of that we have a guy named SPRAGAN starting at LB and a guy named PORTER at 250 lbs playing DEFENSIVE END! we had a total CRAP TEAM with NO ORDER waht so ever. BP did a great job so far adding GOOD DEPTH with a few having potential to be starters and not jsut depth. thats a big STEP towards the right direction taht we needed when SABAN came.

ok, Im not goin to say anything past the simple point you are basing your facts on age whcih is not logical what so ever. its like saying Elway won a ring at 38 yrs old or w/e and Favre at 38 lost he sucks and is a bust while elway is a great b/c he won at that age. or its like saying kobe at 20 won a ring but jordan at 20 was in college and clearly jordan sucked b/c he was in college while kobe won a ring during that age. and mind you i love kobe and take him any day over jordan what so ever im a kobe man till the end but to say jordan sucked b/c at 20 he wanst doin waht kobe did at 20 is outrageous. you know why? b/c they came in at diff times! BECK CAME INTO THE NFL AT 26!! NOT 22 OR 23!
