Hugo Guzman from RF365.com writes that "The battle for backup duties isn't as clear-cut, but as training camp moves along, Beck's ability to properly utilize the playbook as well as his God-given talent, in relation to that of Lemon, should be the deciding factor. The decision should not be guided by any lingering loyalty that Cameron may have for his former San Diego project. Therefore, while Trent Green (barring injury) will be the man lining up under center come September, it should be fun to watch Beck and Lemon battle it out for next in line."

I believe the only question about Beck passing Lemon on the depth chart is when. With that said, I believe it'll happen next season. When do you think it's going to happen?

It depends on how fast Beck learns the playbook.
It also depends on how the Dolphins do this season.
Beck would have a good chance to start near the end of the season if they have no chance of making the playoffs and Green get hurt.

Either in Preseason or by the middle of this year IMO.

Has Ginn signed? It would be nice to have Beck and Ginn working together early in practice.

My guess is that Beck sits all this year i.e. Phillip Rivers unless the season is a total disaster.

It would not surprise me to see Beck take the reigns full time in 08 and have Trent be the wiley veteran backup.

Looking at Cam's history with QBs in San Diego, I expect Beck to sit this entire year at a minimum.

Didn't Brees learn from Flutie and then Rivers watched Brees for a couple of season?

IMO, Beck will compete for the starting job in 2008 or 2009.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Beck overtake Lemon for the back-up job before the season starts. It may be one of those deals where if Green is only going to miss a game or two Lemon comes in, but if Green goesd down for any length of time then Beck will get the nod.

If we have no chance of making the playoffs, I want Beck starting as soon as we're eliminated.

Beck will be the backup with no competition. Cam is handpicking his QBs and he is betting his career on Trent and Beck. Lemon is not part of the equation and he realizes it because he chose to take the one year tender.

Depending on how he perform in TC and the preseason, he will eventually move into the #2 spot, likely right before the season starts.

i think it will be sooner rather than later but i think cam does have a soft spot for lemon....he also said lemon was very impressive in mini-camp

I would not be suprised to see Beck start by week 8.
Beck is ready to play now.

Seriously is CamRam wanted a QB to sit and develop I believe he would have gone Trent Edwards(younger, bigger size, etc).

Beck may not make positive plays every snap but I thinks hes farther along then most want to believe.

He is not sitting the whole season, at least I highly doubt it.
If we're blowing somebody out, or getting blown out I would expect to see him take a few snaps. He needs experience on the field as well as off it.

I don't want him on the field this year.

Learn and learn with no pressure.
