Well Beck was informed before we sign Pennington, so this should not mean anything yet towards McCown being released.

That can be interpreted a couple ways. Either they want to give Beck and Henne the game time experience because McCown is gone, or they plan to keep McCown and are using this game to let Beck and Henne fight it out for spot number three....

How credible is this?

Anyway, I assume they made this decision knowing that Pennington was being brought in. If so, the ball is in Beck's hands in terms of his future in Miami. If he plays decently, I would be shocked if they kept McCown.

Very interesting. Perhaps this is a sign that the Pennington signing means McCown is on his way out. Though, if I was Miami, I would at least hold onto all 4 QBs until the end of Preseason. No real reason to let anybody go at this point, unless a team offers something up in the way of a trade.

I really don't think Henne is getting the boot (being a young rookie drafted by this FO and having shown some poise in camp), so unless they plan on keeping 4 QBs, I think the only reason Henne is in there is to give him game time experience. Beck getting his chance with the first team in the 1st qtr may mean he is being given the chance to prove his worth.

No... Henne Is Safe

McCown's contract was a 2 year deal and included $2.5 million in guaranteed money. So cutting him would only cost the Fins $2.5 million, which the Dolphins could easily cut ties with Josh and put that $2.5 million against their 2008 cap, not hindering the Dolphins at all for next offseason

The phrase "waived injured" comes to mind as to why they might want to avoid playing McCown.

Im a day late and a dollar short I had no idea we signed Pennington!

If McCown doesn't play. He's done. Atleast with Miami. They will probably do him a favor and cut him ASAP. So he can catch on with another team.

Wow. If this is true its a VERY BAD SIGN for Chainsaw Charlie. Well wait a min....Beck actually playing football in a game can do nothing but help McCown.
