Beck will learn from one of the NFL's better veteran quarterbacks. Green knows the system and is a very similar type of QB to Beck. Green makes great defensive reads and is just an overall smart quarterback. Beck has a lot of the same qualities and could be in the best learning situation of his NFL career by having Green to emulate. IMO and other fans feel Beck will have a chance to become a starter for the Fins in the Future (hopefully not 2007). So even though Green may help this team win now, I am more excited that now Beck has a true mentor to learn the NFL quarterback position from and he will become even better than everyone (Cam/Randy/fans) thought. Go Fins in 2007. Now I am excited.:ninja::D:ninja:

yup couldnt have asked for a better guy to bring in for a little while for him to learn from cause i like daunte but he is no mentor thats for sure

Thats a good thing we will have trent for like 2 to 3 years and then let beck take it form then

Isn't it the coaches job to teach the players? we just traded for Gus Frerotte's(redskins) and Damon Huard's(chiefs) backup...I hope I am wrong, but I am not exited about this trade.

How was he Huards backup? Trent was the starter in KC, he suffered a concussion in Week 1 last season, Damon played well in his place, but Green resumed starting when he returned. KC might not have wanted Trent for `07, but he sure was never a backup to Huard. I think KC is screwed this year, unless Croyle turns out to be the real deal.

There is no telling how it ultimately shakes out, lets all remember Dan Marino turned 38 for his final and worst season, Trent Green will turn 37 next month, how much he has left in the tank is hard to predict.

Trent Green may play well for two more seasons, or he may have already hit the wall, and we will all find that out this season. In which case, Beck may see action this year and would likely be a starter in 2008.

One things for sure, the degradation of Trent Greens abilities is underway, and he really can't be "relied upon" past this season with any surety, if we can even be sure he'll be a successful QB this year.

With that said, I like the situation, I can only assume that Cameron is not high on Daunte Culpepper's ability to read defenses or make quick decisions, much in line with Mike Martz's opinion of Daunte, that we heard when Martz was a candidate for the head coaching job here.

Marino had a hell of a year when he was 37 though...3,500 yards, and 23 TDs. If Green puts up those kind of numbers (which he was easily doing before last year) then I`ll be tickled pink!

Marino was the wrong QB for Jimmie Johnson. Trent Green was hand picked by Cam! He is supposedly exactly who he wants. It seems then that Green could have a year maybe two before Beck takes over. Secondly, and in my opinion more importantly John Beck will learn from not only one of the best but also from one of the NFL's classiest acts. He will truly benefit from the mentoring. Green will teach Beck to be a pro...something Culpepper never would do!

I am psyched for Beck and Green. I also like the move. I feel bad for Culpepper. I like him. Somehow, I think he deserves better.

Let's get 'em both in camp...I'm ready for the season. :)

I hope Beck learns quick because he'll be starting before the end of this season when Green suffers his next concussion.
