just wanna note his accuracy is still there, go to miamidolphins.com and check out the 31st highlights. It shows the 3 qb's doing a drill throwing into a square in a net, beck nails 2 in a row and the other 2 qbs dont make any in, I think Henne even sailed one completely over the net. Its a small square, and obviously if its anywhere close to it, its a good pass but just sayin.

Now obviously beck has been struggling with the drills with pressure and the buzzer going off, but his accuracy is still there, despite this "new" throwing motion.

I was wondering about this. I've always heard he had uncanny accuracy, but haven't seen any substance to back that up. I hope one of our QB's distinguishes themselves soon.

Call me crazy, call me bias, I really don't care. But I think Beck is getting more pressure then the other 2 QB's during thses drills. I just find it odd that when John is behind center, people are coming completely untouched right up the middle. JMO. It's that, or the guy's who are actually there writing these blogs, just seem to mention where the rush is coming from only when Beck is the QB.

sorry no offense but that is a horrible observation or way to judge. Big difference btw throwing into a net and throwing to a person guarded by 1 to 2 guys while pressure is coming at you. I have played QB with prssure on me and since I can run like a back, i would scramble to buy that time but my personality allowed me to still be accurate. He on the other hand panics and breaks down when that pressure comes. I am a BIG TIME BECK SUPPORTER SINCE DAY ONE so im not hating im just stating that just b/c he thrtows in a box doesn't mean hes accuracy is still htere. He is throwing short, long, high, and to the ground at times. that isn't accuracy. So whether he is trying to get used to this new motion or hes just panicking out of pressure something is affecting his accuracy.

I`m sure lots of guys can look good in camp throwing into a net. Show me something when it counts.

Just about any QB can look good without any pressure and it does seem that Beck is having more trouble dealing with this than McCown and Henne. This is definitely something he is going to have to improve on if he's going to be the starter. Beck is a smart kid and seems to be a really nice guy and as one poster put it, the game hasn't slowed down for him yet. Hopefully it will soon.

if he has a long time to throw the ball and a good Pocket to Throw the ball he would be a very good QB because of his Accuracy

no offense taken, thats why i added that last line in my post, that this is totally just a throwing drill, with no defenders and it doesnt mean anything. I meant it as his struggles arent because of his new throwing motion. We all know what kind of TC he is having (according to those pesky bloggers anyway lol)

You mean like if he played in the MWC?

Too bad this is the NFL and the defenders are the fastest, quickest, and strongest players in the world. Too bad the avg. NFL QB will see some sort of pressure around the 3 second mark or sooner. Too bad it isnt like shooting horse in the driveway.

So yea, if this were flag football and the rushers had to count to 5 Mississippi, then Beck would be our guy.

I remember when I went to see the mountaineers play Villanova in a hoop game about 10 years ago. I watched Kerry Kittles have the most beautiful stroke I had ever seen during warmups. He hit 17 or 18 on his 3pt attempts in warmups with no one guarding him. And of the 17 he made, 16 of those were pure net. Now granted Kittles is an EXCELLENT shooter, he still will only hit on about 40% of his tries during a given game. That is an excellent percentage for most great 3pt shooters. However, like most players with great skill, his percentage in warmups will be almost perfect.

Alot of NFL QBs will put em in that net with no one defending them and they are wearing shorts, no pads etc etc. Beck dosent have what it takes to play in this league....period. And he isnt accurate either. Heck, Im pretty good myself at throwing the ball to a precise spot from 10-20 yards away. Im certainly no QB though.

And oh btw, did you guys catch that comment Zach made last week about its nice to be playing real football in camp and not "flag football"? Thats the term he used. Basically he was clowning Cam's camp. Maybe theres a reason Beck seemed to have such a great camp last year. It was more friendly to his skill level.

The ideal time is 3.5 seconds, and Beck hardly saw 2 seconds on play after play last season.

The second they put Lemon in the game they start using rollouts and moving the pocket. Yet you still claim you saw the blame was squarely on John Beck.

I won't bash you but I will point that out, and there is absolutely nothing you can say that will make it wrong because it's not. There was plenty of blame to go around and Beck is surely included but the TE's, the Wr's, the Oline, and Rb's sure the heck are too...

Beck has not looked good so far this year and was horrid last year (I know we didn't have a good supporting cast last year). He needs to pick up his game or he may not even be the #3 QB when the regular season begins ...meaning he could be cut!!!

Every QB loses accuracy when they are pressured or have someone in their face (exception-Marino).
Tom Brady looks horrible when he's got pressure in his face. He always short hops them or throws way wide.
The point of the post was his accuracy, NOT his ability to manage the offense.

Not neccesarily true. Some QB's hold on to the ball too long and take unneccesary sacks.
Carr and Rob Johnson come to mind

Beck is a 2nd round draft pick I'm sure with the dolphins recent luck of draft picks no one expected much. I feel Henne will eventually be our guy since he was also drafted by the new regime, Mccown is auditioning but. For beck... all the reports i've read said this kid is horrible.
