Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown and Travis Minor all had strong days running the ball. With the team in full pads in the morning session, Brown showed the first real glimpses of his first-round talent with quick bursts and great balance. He barely escaped injury, however, when LB Winston Taylor was blocked from behind and shot helmet-first towards Brown's ankle. But Brown adeptly jumped over Taylor.
:whew:

If you asked Saban, Roth is doing just fine. But watching practice and the two games, Roth is struggling to make the adjustment to the pro level. There's no question he is quick enough, his problem is at the point of attack. He's not big enough, namely he has short arms, to win the matchups with lanky offensive tackles. Roth is going to have to become a master of technique and hand movement if he is going to excel at this level.

It says Frerotte had another strong performance at camp, maybe he and the receivers timing is starting to work now. I hope he does better against Pittsburgh even though, they have one hell of a defense. The o-line is really going to have their work cut out for them, because the Pittsburgh D harassed Mcnabb and the Eagles have a good o-line.

I think a QB should have been slected with our 2nd round pick personally but I seriously thought we would take Khalif Barnes. I was hoping for a QB or WR (at the time I don't think we had Boston) Andrew Walter would have been a good Linehan fit IMO. But as they say hindsight is...But Roth can turn into a 3-4 DE as his best position again IMO and I think that's why he was drafted; for the future 3-4 and not the current 4-3 majority defense.

i too thought Barnes was our choice..but i was fine with Roth at the time

Wow, how bad would it have sucked if Ronnie hadn't jumped. If he had done serious damaged I would have completely been convinced that the football gods were against us.
