Nice read: http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...ract-as-ridiculous-consider-isa-abdul-quddus/

It was the third roster transaction in a news release sent on the second day of NFL free agency.
Because it was a business transaction and the NFL is business.
But in the excitement of the Miami Dolphins re-signing wide receiver Kenny Stills and defensive end Andre Branch and extending safety Reshad Jones, this name should not be forgotten.
Isa Abdul-Quddus.

The statement described his release from the club as simply “waived/failed physical.”
The truth is, at the age of 27, due to a neck/shoulder injury, Abdul-Quddus is not expected to play football again.
As it was described to me, Abdul-Quddus’ injury was unfortunate and unusual, for even a football player. It was the type of injury that usually occurs after a car crash.
One play. One snap. On a Christmas Eve day in Buffalo. The reason why NFL players often say they aim to play each snap as if it’s their last. Because, literally, it may be.
This is also the reason why some of us should pause before flexing our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram muscles, proclaiming that Player X “in no way deserves that $8 million a year contract! Ridiculous!”
Because, frankly, these NFL players should collect every penny they can get.
And none of us should begrudge it. For look at the risk they take.
Abdul-Quddus was an underrated safety. Last year, he flinched when I told him I might write he was one of the most underrated safeties in the NFL.

IAQ was really underrated. hopefully if he gets healthy later we can resign him

Totally sucks. He was a solid player. Our defense cratered once he was lost.

Maybe we shouldn't invest highly in a free safety like I was hoping... our track record over the last couple, if not more has turned good players into early retirements due to injury. Delmas was before Quddus and I'm pretty sure there have been others since 2000. The position is cursed

he still made more than most people will ever make in a lifetime and still can do other things with his life

My former squad leader lost both lower parts of his leg and two fingers in the middle east and made much less

He'll never play again so forget resigning him. Just hope he gets healthy enough to live a comfortable pain free life

Im not saying were ever going to say sign this guy again, but he would'nt be the first guy to be labeled "never play again" and show up on a team a year later...for better or worse.

Ya man, I wish Quddus my best, but my real sympathy isn't for the millionaires. It's for our soldiers, and the innocent victims of senseless crimes, who, most of the time, get no help.

Brock Marion was good. But that position was another one that was strangely neglected by several regimes. Think Sparano riding with Clemons. I could never recall that guy ever making a play once for this team. Not a single play. The Delmas injury was tough luck and iAQ as well. It is not the fact that the position is cursed, we just ignore it. If we don't take a guy in the first round I hope the plan is to have one behind Nate Allen that can at least learn. Let Thomas come in if need be

I was reallllly happy going into this year thinking a healthy isa and Jones with understanding of the d would be great.
This loss is huge we need a rangy fs to allow Jones to excel

Any one of us can have the same thing happen driving to work every day as result of an accident. Some of us have more dangerous jobs than others. The others aren't paid based on the level of risk in their profession, so football is no different. But the contracts given to sports athletes are ridiculous, plain and simple. How is it that a guy who can be an average to solid player should make millions in the NFL, but the guy who performs the surgery to allow this guy to have a normal life makes but a fraction of his yearly salary? And please don't say it's supply and demand or easier to be a surgeon.....it's not. It's because people never truly take a step back and think about what's important in our backwards society.

Ok - i'm off my soapbox now. Back to football....

This article makes Finheaven Null and very void because it makes conjecture a thing

I do not begrudge the player. I begrudge the team for being stupid enough to pay that ridiculous salary.

Im not begruding anyone, but Im and my back is ****ed from working construction all my life and that kid already made a ton more money than I ever will... Sucks for him but dont ask me to cry for him....
