i hope Ross had a change of heart, but sadly I'm learning that Ross supports ireland, and philbin.
sorry phin fans but that coming out to be true, or else the firing would already have happened

I posted this in another thread and this makes perfect sense:

Jeff Ireland should be and most likely will be retained along with Joe Philbin.

Here is why:

Philbin and Ireland have had 2 years together

Lets look at that. The first year, Philbin got what he got in terms of players that were here and implementing new schemes and systems. After last year's dismal performance of 7-9 Philbin and Ireland made adjustments that included, Jettisoning Long, Dansby, Burnette, Vonte and Bush. Attempts were made to replace Dansby and Burnette. Not a fair assessment for 2 guys who just got here. Give them time to adjust like any other player and lets reevaluate them. It is obvious that Dansby and Burnette made our D line and 2ndary better then the current set of linebackers. Water under the bridge at this point but not the end of the world. They will be better next year.

Offensive line. Philbin's strong point. In fact he does nothing better and he has been a career offensive line coach. Obviously Philbin felt Martin was going to step it up and if you believe some of what we have heard Incognito was tasked with making that happen. Philbin must have also had input into Long leaving. In fact I know he did because Incognito's Dad posted on another board multiple posts saying Philbin was all involved. In fact, Mommabilly, as he was known has quite a bit of dislike for both Ireland and Philbin and felt they were stringing his son along for less Money. It is obvious Long felt unwanted and unappreciated so he signed with the Rams. Long had direct conversations with Philbin. For whatever reason they were trying to get Long on the cheap and felt confident enough that if Long walked they could replace him with what we had.

No one could have seen the Incognito blow up coming. It is alleged that Martin has had a gun to his head 3 different times and the phins new about it. Again alleged. Not sure what could have been done in the middle of the season like that except to try and patch the holes. Not sure why Martin was even being considered except that, maybe the coaches just thought he needed to toughen up. Remember he was supposed to be good.

We did not make the playoffs because when the line imploded, so did everything else.

Had the line made it thru the season we would be talking playoffs. Where I have the problem is I question the way we lost. Losing I can handle, but not punching both the Bills and Jets in the mouth on the way to losing is unacceptable. If Sparano was here I can assure you we would have punched and at least knocked out a tooth.........

We were on the edge of making the playoffs a month ago too. A lot feel apart since then.

The thing is, Ross was not expecting to deal with this. He is probly starstruck. Now he has to make major changes on short notice with no idea of replacements.

One more year, he will have his eye on the door this time around and be planning for it and looking at candidates in secret.

Just give Ireland a lifetime contract so we as fans can quit wishing for change. Results don't matter just the love that Ross and Ireland have for each other.
Ross just needs to quit lying about his commitment to fielding a winning team

I think your suggestion is the most likely scenario. If we improve and make the playoffs, then maybe we continue forward. I just don't want making the playoff's to be the new standard. The idea is to win the trophy.

It's not hopeless Brother. No one is more motivated to put a winning team on the field then the man who's investment this is. I know he is a billionaire but he wants to win, more then we know. Don't forget this is a learning curve for him also.

He has been an owner for 5 years, learning curve my azz. If he is motivated to win then he will make needed changes instead of sticking with a gm that has built a team that hasn't had a winning season in 5 years.
The problem with many of these owners is they feel since they have been so good in business than they know all they need to know to have a winning team in football and its not the same.

^^THIS

Finally some rationality...

He had better start learning faster.Because staying with the crew thats running this ship means we will surely hit the iceberg.

The iceberg has been hit, face reality dolphans we got this regime for at least one more year

Thank you. You just proved my point. It's a learning curve:brewskis:

This was beginning of December when dolphins seemed destined to make playoffs. Now end of the month, dolphins choked it away. It could chance and we've seen owners say that and then fire the coach or gm. I don't want Ireland. There is no excuse for him anymore. Don't forget, he was the GM when sparano was coach and some thought maybe it was sparano for the subpar offensive line. PErhaps lack of coaching, but now it seems evident that Ireland just doesn't know how to get talent from Free agency and fix the offesinve line. The offensive line has been subpar since sparano was coach and it's gotten worse the longer Ireland has been Gm. No excuse for miami's offensive line to not improve after all these years but get worse.

I am trying to understand why most people feel this way about mostly Jeff Ireland. Most people agree that Ireland was under the thumb of Parcells and had little to say about talent acquisition in the beginning. Ireland has been here 6 years. 3 of those years were directly under Parcells and one year (4th) on his own with Sparano. Sparano was subsequently fired and a reset occurred with Philbin being brought in. The 5th yr was a gimmee year because new systems, new schemes and new coaches were being installed.

We went 7-9 last yr. This yr, yr 6, under collaboration with Joe Philbin, Long, Dansby, Burrnette, Davis and Bush were jettisoned in favor of players that Philbin and Ireland collaborate on to fill Philbins schemes. Obviously both Ireland and Philbin thought they could get thru the season with the line they had or Long would still be here along with Clabo and others. This makes absolutely 100% perfect sense because Philbin's whole career he has been an Offensive line coach. Who better to oversee a suspect line then a guy with 15 yrs experience as a offensive line coach. No one could have known that the Incognito thing would back fire after Incognito was obviously asked to toughen Martin up. This fact killed our season and ruined our chances at making the playoffs. We simply could not come back from the holes that were created. Everyone under achieved because we simply couldn't block less alone run the football. Teams knew it and would stunt and blitz us on more then 30+ times a game. Do you blame them? I'm just thankful Our QB made it through the mess.

The line thing was highlighted by the departure of Reggie Bush and Jake long. I understand that Ireland and Philbin are to blame because they are the leaders, but in my opinion for the for going legitimate reasons they get a pass and one more year to prove themselves.
