Do you guys think with our focus on being a physical football now that Belichick decides to try and run LaGarrett Blount down our throat instead of passing the ball 50 times? My thought would be that it would demoralize us and embarrass Campbell?

Belichick's feeble mind games won't work on Dan Campbell. Cambell's mind tricks will roundhouse Belichick's mind tricks and send them packing.

Yes. He'll try to attack what you perceive to be your strength. If he wins that battle, then game over pretty much. If he doesn't win it, then he moves on to plan B, e.g. slinging it 50 times.

Belichick will focus on not letting us get off to a fast start. Our identity under Campbell is to jump out to a big lead and then hold on with energy/emotion. So you try to prevent that, with a ball control offense, lots of running out of formations with Gronk out wide. I doubt Belichick thinks this coaching staff can make halftime adjustments and come from behind, which was a relative strength of Philbin's (if he had any).

From what I read, New England's o-line is decimated, and their RBs are banged up, so they have no choice but to throw short passes on every down.

In the last game against the Jets, the Patriots RBs ran 5 times for 1 yard total.

Just let Bill and Dan duke it out. Survivor is victor.

you always have to play the run. And we need to do this with the front 4. My guess is that NE wants to run the ball, but give up quickly to avoid long distance downs

Omar says we need two plans against Billicheck. First half plan and second half plan. We had early leads and were rushing them in the first half last year but he won't let you beat him in the second half the way you beat him in the first half. Key will be for Landry to hold on to the ball. He tries to do too much and that could really hurt the team if he turns it over.

If we can't stop their run game were down ,

Now if that were somehow their plan I'd welcome it with open arms. The less plays the Tom Brady has the ball in his hands the better. I'll live with Blount ALL game . I don't care if he gets to a hot start . One play he'll get stuffed and on the moment Wake can tee off i expect he'll be held a few times for 10 yard penalties

If their rb's get to the second level, then our linebackers will be exposed. I think the secondary will be KEY for us to win. Brady will pick on new guys, and Taylor will probably be the most thrown at.
Mind games will cease at kick off. All physical football after that.

Those don't get called against NE.

Head Coaches are paid to plan for all-of-the-above scenarios. Belichick is a good coach, if Campbell is outcoached, it is what it is. With that said, it's not gonna matter what the Patriots do after the Dolphins put up 50+ in the first half.

Generally Bellicheat does a mismatch and take what the defense gives you style of offense.

So, he runs against 6 man fronts, and throws against 8 man fronts. He isolates a mismatch and exploits it. Brady is just really really good at reading defenses so it's hard to fake one thing and then do another at the snap. He identifies the mismatch and plays to it. He rarely needs to audible because he gets the ball out so quickly that once he identifies the mismatch, he just uses his hot read and progression depending on the rush. His decision making is impeccable and his accuracy is astoundingly consistent. As long as the OL holds up, the ball will hit the receiver in the right spot and the runners will almost never face 8 or 9 in the box.

The only solution to unlock that offense is a combo of a fierce interior pass rush through the A gaps to HIT Brady (pressure are not enough, and sacks are not necessary) and press man corners to prevent the short throw. Then you take your chances with your safety on the long ball. That is why we have Suh, the Bills have Dareus, and the Jets keep investing in dominant athletic guys who can play DT. The Jets are probably only 2nd to the Seahawks for best match ups against New England.

For us to win, Suh has to pound Brady early. It's really not too complicated.

Our offense needs to run plays that the Cheatriots are not stealing the signals for. IMHO, that is on the Dolphins coaching staff.

:err:

Sorry he isn't Brian "Falls Down After The Catch" Hartline. Hartline basically assured he'd never turn the ball over, because he curled up into the fetal position or ran out of bounds the second he caught it. I have no problem with Landry trying to gain more YAC.
