Belichick's take on Long

Long should be a RT. In other words he's too slow to stay in front of the quicker agile DEs that have become the trend in the NFL. I don't think the kid is a bust, he IS a big physical guy. I just think he can be a Pro Bowl RT as opposed to an avg LT.

sadly if he can only play RT then he is a bust. No one takes a RT #1 overall.

I completely disagree with this post.

I tell u one thing, this guy has impressed me . . . Jake Long.
Anybody watching the game Sunday knows how good he was . . . he looked like a solid LT out there . . . in his SECOND game. Folks this guy is only gonna get better, and I tell u, I was expecting him to struggle mightily at first, but he has been solid, in both games IMO. Improved from week 1 . . . this will definitely be a test for him this week, but the future is bright. Once we get a QB that can get the ball down the field, I expect us to be running left more than 50% of the time.

Belichick is doing what he always does....trying to get into a players head before the game....didn't he do the same thing with J. Taylor.

I saw something different. I saw Long being pushed back on many occasions, and eventually he was given help on that side with the TE

Precisely...I think it's ploy to get Jake geeked up then bring all sorts of heat to his side during the game. Jake does have a promising future, but his lack of experience has showed in the last two games, and I'm sure Belicheat will try to exploit that.

Help from the TE lol, on several plays I saw what i believe was Fasano getting manhandled and Jake blocking 2 guys, blocking his guy down and then using quick feet to switch over to Fasano's guy.

Long does get pushed back, so does Carey . . . but both have had success in giving the QB time and not allowing much pressure off the edges. They are NOT getting beat, and that is a good thing.

U will see the TE stay in and block alot, because teams are putting 8 and 9 guys up close, but from what I saw, Jake looked to be doing his thing. Now I don't sit back in rewatch that AWFUL game like I know some on this board have done lol, but my first impression of Jake has been a good one.

mmm ? he didn't allow a sack and had a holdnig call... you could make the case for the tripping call but even vets do that and get away with it

jake a kendall have been the only good news we've had so far

Yep. Last season before the first game he was talking up Ronnie saying something like he was the best offensive player they would face. With Ronnie injured during the second game, he went back to talking up JT. He's does this with almost every opponent he faces.

This is what I was saying before he was drafted and I got lambasted for it. There were rumblings he might be better off as a RT, and you just don't pay #1 money for that. I hope I'm wrong.

RT isn't an option for a guy with a $60 million dollar contract. Even as a rookie.

He may be doing what he always does but what he said about J. Taylor turned out to be true...
