Bill Parcells' actions warrant your trust. He has a record of turning franchises around, and already is off to a smart Dolphins start.

Parcells' words are less trustworthy, however. Like many sports executives, the new Dolphins VP of football operations has a record of shading the truth to protect his bargaining position.

Sunday, in response to a Yahoo.com report that the Dolphins and Jason Taylor had amicably agreed to separate by trade by the April draft, Parcells cited "just another example of journalistic irresponsibility."

no doubt you shouldn't trust his words. He has every reason in the world to say what he did about JT and no reason to say anything else. Regardless of what the reality is with JT, telling the world that you have already decided to trade him does nothing to help the team.

I don't know what the reality is....if I had to guess I'd put it at about 60/40 that we trade him. but whether we're keeping him, Parcells said that right thing, and if we are trading him, Parcells said the right thing.

But if we decide to trade Taylor, a 3rd and 5th which is more like a 4th and 6th, does not cut it!! I will be seriously pissed if we dump him Taylor for anything less than a 2nd at minimum (plus more)!!

It's an historical fact that BP does not play well with the press, especially when they try to second guess his personnel dealings. He would rather they just go away and not bother him when he is making personnel decisions, whether it be the draft, FA or trades. It's almost comical to watch his facial expressions when they get on his nerves with their incessant questioning.

Remember, it's a business, and you have to take everything ANYBODY says with a BLOCK of salt. He left the door open for our best defensive player to return, but if he gets the right offer for JT, he'll take it in a heartbeat.

Of course, and he has first hand knowledge of that irresponsibility from his time with ESPN.

At any rate, what did anyone with half a brain expect Parcells to say about the JT situation ?? Did you expect him to say " Yah, we're shopping him around, but we're not sure if he really wants to play again this year ??"

Of course not...Look, there has to be some shred of truth to the idea that JT is thinking of packing it in or is not interested in being traded. That's why that story came out...that wasn't fabricated totally. What I think is that Tunaland was pretty close to a deal to move him out and JT said...hey..wait a minute I don't want to go Denver or Cleveland or wherever it was supposed to be...

On the other hand, when the Pace deal hit a snag, maybe Tunaland backed out of the deal to move JT and one of JT's guys (agent or whatever) leaked out the original story. Maybe JT wanted to go to the Pack or Denver or wherever that deal was being worked on ?? Perhaps he doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding again here. One way or another, that story was out there for a reason and Parcells commented on it in a way that some still think is "a little white lie".

Two things you can be sure of: 1) JT is still on the block. 1) Tuna will say what he has to to protect the organization...completely truthful or not...

so if we keep him, we get nothing for him next year when he retires. Good chance were going nowhere next season. He should have been traded last season.
