Yes, he was a complete bust for us here at CB, partly due to Wannstedt drafting a pure zone-coverage corner rather than a man-to-man guy for the defense that they ran here. Believe it or not, Fletcher was a great CB at Wisconson where they played primarily zone coverage. So he's a FA this offseason, and we run more of a zone scheme here, so don't be surprised if we see the return of...

wow... I betcha even Jamar Fletcher would be better (slightly) than Howard. If he's an upgrade and cheaper, why not?

He never could tackle that well though. He's a short CB, not the large zone as well as man CB who can tackle that Saban likes.

I think he should just stay somewhere outside of Miami. I don't want him on the team.

Zone's not the only problem. He's doesnt have the talent to be a force against the run on the perimeter, and he doesnt have the ability to jam defenders on a blitz.

We run more zones than we have in the past but we're still a man to man defense.

if we wanted a bad corner that badly, there's gotta be one out there that doesn't have a negative history with the club.

Jamar Fletcher is horrendous at best. Id rather find someone from the CFL or AFL then ever have him or howard back on this team

Jamar does not tackle well and thats what Saban really like other than cover the guy.

Jamar had a good season in San Diego. He's matured and developed but hasn't lived up to his potential yet though.
