Believing the Hype?

I still have all the confidence in the world in our beloved Phins. But reading some of the few quotes available that talk about intensity and getting things done, I wonder if some of the team is guilty of reading too many preseason predictions and all the hype?

Personally I think that we play better as underdogs and overacheivers to begin with. I'd rather be viewed that way.

It seems that many of the quotes surround intensity, concentration "not being up for the game". I truly think they began to believe all the hype. How else can you explain coming so close to Pittsburgh, and then falling on your face to Buffallo?

I think thats true. But with all the veteran leaders on our team, they are gonna see that this and light a fire under everyones *****. Zach and JT arent gonna sit back this late in their career and let this team have a 4-12 season when they have the talent and promise of a playoff team. We will turn around, hopefully sooner than week 11 like last year so we dont come up one game short. You almost need a 11-5 record to gaurentee a playoff spot in the AFC.

I agree. I think they will turn it around.

For some reason it seems they play better with achip on their shoulder and they seem to think they were just gonna miraculously win without effort and hustle.

Every team we've fielded since Shula has been guilty of getting the big head from all the hype. Guess some things never change.
