OK, who voted no in the poll on the front page? Certainly not me. Just curious to hear your reasoning, not trying to bash.

Either Travares Tillman or Travares Tillman's mother.

I didn't vote no.....but playing devil's advocate, he's already 28 years old. That is a little old to be "the future".....at that age you better be the present. Which I think he is, and hope he will be for at least 3-4 more years.

4-5 years would be great. Many players still play at a high level at 33 yrs old.

I really am perplexed as to what Saban saw that made him go with Tillman over Bell for such a long time. I'm not out to criticize Nick after back to back wins but this one is really strange. Does anyone agree?? I mean I can't think of one meaningful play Tillman ever made while playing safety for Miami and Bell, even prior to starting, has made many. Whether it be a personality conflict, the fact that WannSpiel drafted Bell, something Tillman was doing in practice or Nick was truly worried about Bell's ability to stay healthy, I guess we'll never know. Many Dolfans, including me, saw Bell as a starting safety coming into this season as a given and we were wrong. I hope, and think, Bell will continue to play well but maybe we will see Saban's reason for going with Tillman in weeks to come.

Maybe Saban doesn't want to destroy the confidence of young safeties and took the same approach with Bell that he is taking with Allen. I guess we'll never know, I just hope Saban never genuinely thought Tillman was better than Bell or we are in trouble, from a talent evaluation standpoint.

Good point, although I would consider the next 3-4 years to be the future, considering the quick-turnaround nature of the NFL these days.

Bell seems to have good instincts out there....he makes nice tackles and sems to always be around the ball. We are starting to get some picks and the secondary seems to be gelling. Hopefully the "Allens" will be out there playing as well as YB. Goodman has been up and down so far.

Look at John Lynch. He's still one of the better safeties in the league and he's currently 35 years old.... he can still lay the lumber on someone.

There was another thread, not too long ago, in which someone suggested he needed to learn the defense a little better. I agree because what else could it be? Certainly not getting outright beaten out by Tillman.
