Friday's midnight deadline passed with TE Ben Utecht's agent hearing nary a word from the Colts, ensuring that Utecht will leave for the Bengals.
Utecht goes to Cincinnati for three years at $9 million with the key being that the Bengals do not sacrifice a draft pick. Utecht immediately becomes the best receiving tight end of the Marvin Lewis/Carson Palmer era and could conceivably make an impact as a TE2 in fantasy leagues. Bryan Fletcher takes over as Dallas Clark's backup in Indy.

Its too bad he can't play defence, thats where Cinci should be spending thier money.

Antwan Odom and Darryl Blackstock? Cincy can only do so much in FA since they don't have big money, but 2 moves they've agreed to fell apart (Detroit pulled out of the Shaun Rogers deal cause Cleveland offered Bodden, and Dwayne Robertson failed his physical).

If you think about it, Cincy's biggest problem last year was injuries to the LBs.At one point they had to move Robert Geathers (their best pass rusher) to SLB, and play Ndhukwe (7th round rookie S) at WLB.

The Bengals actually have some good young talent on defense, they just needed a pass rush and some better DTs (looks like they're switching to the 3-4)

Utecht is over rated

A product of play makers around him.

We'll see if he can have similar success to what he had in Indy, becoming somewhat of a reliable go to type of player. I guess he does have comparable talent around him on offense, but who knows how long it will take Chad Johnson to fully meltdown, Houshmenzadah to follow and the rest of the Bengals to end up in jail :)
