What are they compared to letting him go later? Do we save cap space? Will this provide more reps for the other QB's? Would it have been better to bring him into training camp with the hope of another QB on another team getting injured and us getting something for him then?

It probably had a lot to do with the fact that the Trifecta wanted to give Henne and White a lot of reps this offseason, and they felt that giving reps to Beck would be wasted since more than likely he would be sitting on the bench again in 2009.

The front office had a year to look him over and didn't like what they saw. He didn't show well when he played on the big stage so his trade value is so low/non-existent so he couldn't be traded. The only options were to keep him and have him dilute other prospect's snaps or cut him. Given the situation, it seems like the right move to me and I hope he catches on somewhere because he seems like a hardworking, honorable guy.

I think they tried to shop him on draft day and got no nibbles. Once they drafted White it was just a matter of time!

also to let him try and find another Job. if they cut him after preseason he likely wouldnt be able to sign else where to compete.

the benefit to cutting beck now, is so we dont have to read on these boards for the next 3 mos about who's going to be our 3rd string qb

Sparano said it was going to be tough to get reps for Beck before the draft. Getting reps in for 4 QB's would have been impossible. I really wonder how we're gonna work preseason games. I dont think we're really going to unveil much as far as the wildcat, but I think White will still play quite a bit.

I wouldn't run the Wildcat at all in preseason.

I wanna see Fasano lined up as a FB blasting someone out of Ronnies way!

Another benefit is about 500 less post and 50 less threads on here:lol:

I dunno, White doing a good job picking up where Beck left off.

Yes, but with White we have a lot to be excited about! Honestly I probably never gave Beck a chance cause I was so mad about the Ginn pick that I wrote everything after that off!
