Fifteen NFL teams play their home games on artificial turf, including the Bengals.

The Buffalo Bills and the Cinci Bengals BOTH play on synthetic turf!!!!!!!!

Odell Beckham Jr wants it banned back after his injury earlier this year. He is right.

Artificial turf is laid on hard surfaces like concrete slabs. It increases the likelihood of strong impacts with the ground and more likely to get a concussion.

This is what Tua felt when he banged his head on the synthetic turf of Bengals stadium.

BAN ALL SYNTHETIC TURF!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought this new artificial turf was supposed to be a lot safer?I remember in the 90s how astro turf was super hard is it the same thing as the turf they use now?

It's not as soft as real grass and dirt, and it requires these little rubber pellets to try and make it softer, but the fact is, players shoes will pickup and move the pellets around the field and it won't be the same, and you can have spots that are harder than others during the game. And that's IF they are maintaining the field 100%.

Who the hell knows the standards of the Bills or Bengals stadium on their turf.

So half the league plays on synthetic surfaces. Got it.

Also Bills turf is one of the highest safety rated turfs out there as well. (According to studies I read).

I don’t think any team still has the old school Astro turf laid right on concrete.

Bills reportedly will be off that list with the new stadium. Pegulas said it will be natural grass

I’m happy to hear the bills will go with grass. More teams should. It will prevent injuries and lengthen careers.

Well. You can look the safety ratings up. Bills a A Titan also every field is certified by the League and PA before the game.

Also question wouldn’t a frozen natural grass field be harder that the turf with pellets?

That is precisely what the Pegulas said in the announcement. Something along the lines the Bills cannot continually talk about our players safety, how we are cautious with injuries and have our state of the art recovery centers while having our players play on turf.

So guess for them and probably correct financially is wait for the new stadium instead of a massive change to the playing level at Highmark

When you have a qb like Josh Allen who uses his legs a lot you want the most protection possible. One awkward cut or landing on turf can be season ending where on grass it would be fine. I’ve seen some strange injuries occur on artificial turf that you don’t see on grass surfaces.

I agree. But also seen them on frozen surfaces. I really wanted a Dome in Buffalo. But the “traditionalists” got what they wanted.

It's much safer. That stuff was like carpet with seams. The turf is much safer. It's still hard but not like the days with cement under it. They usually use a crushed stone way below the surface and then several layers of padding and drainage. I think the indoor turf uses cement underneath.
