Good morning fellow Phins fans: :dolphins:

I decided to start another thread on Pittsburgh QB Roethlisberger's injuries. However, this thread is to focus on the impact that it might have have on our opener.

As we all already know, Ben's injuries included a broken jaw, broken nose, 9-inch gash on his head, numerous broken teeth and some "minor" injuries to his knees.

These injuries, of course, are the result of a motorcycle accident that he was involved in yesterday morning. His motorcycle collided with a car. And this multi-million dollar QB was foolish enough not to be wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. And as we all know, its not against the law to not wear a helmet in PA. With all that said, its was extremely careless, on his part, not to have worn a helmet. Motorcycle injuries are often very dangerous, and more times than not, are fatal. So all in all, Big Ben is quite lucky to still be alive. And let me make it clear here and now....we are all very glad that he's alive and that the extent of his unjuries weren't serious enough that he might be crippled or mamed.

Anyway, those are the facts as we know em'.

So how does this incident impact us? Well, we play our NFL season opener vs. Pittsburgh. With Ben's injuries being what they are. IMO he will be doubtful for that game. And let's not forget that our very own C'Pep might not be ready for the opener either.

So what does that leave us?

We could well end up playing game with Joey Harrington as our starter vs. Charlie Batch as theirs. In what was originally billed as a monster showdown between the reigning World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the up and coming Miami Dolphins (6 gm win streak to end 2005 season), we could end up getting a real snoozer ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

For my part, I hope that Big Ben recovers quickly. The competitive spirit in me wants to see my PHins in there with the "best" team. I want to know where our team really stands after week 1. Now don't get mew wrong, I don't mind a freebie every now and then. But when you're talking season opener and this kind of match-up, I want to see the real thing!!!!

So with that said....Ben get well soon. And we'll see ya on opening day.

GOOOOOOOOOOO PHINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's your opinion on Ben Roethlisberger's injuries and the impact that it might have on our opener????? :feedback:

Write it down...i guarantee he plays!

I had a broken jaw just a few months ago...it's 5 weeks of having it wired and then 3 more weeks till you are back to your former self....

The only thing he needs to worry about is losing weight from being on a liquid diet, and the inherent loss of energy that goes with it...

I'm not saying it's a walk in the park... for me it was the worst experience of my life...fractured jaw in 2 places with 2 dead teeth that needed root canals and a tightening session with 12 inch pliers every monday... But i could still go anywhere and do a lot...

Right now i'm 2 months post op and i feel great..95%..i was playing basket ball last week no problem.

He will be fine!

Get better Ben. Of all people, football players should know the importance of wearing helmets. :shakeno: I know it's not cool, but cool and smart rarely go hand in hand. I'm hoping Ben is ready so that when we win no one can say it was a 'gimmie'!

Was your UPPER Jaw fractured so bad that it seperated from your skull? Because thats what happened to Ben..

It took them SEVEN HOURS of surgery to fix his face.. I dont think he will be ready for the opener.

Ben will be missing alot of practice time.......that's going to be the factor in playing us..Even if he does recover in 2 months or maybe 5 weeks, he is in no shape to play football...Getting knocked around with a sore jaw or nose has to hurt his ability....If a so called brocken finger messed with him last year, what do you guy's think these injuries will do to him???...I say at the least he won't want to be sacked and will get rid of the football way to early....One good hit will change that whole ballgame....Bad news for the Steelers, good news for the Dolphins......Of course we all wish him the best just not against us.

Not only will Ben miss a LOT of practice time, his knees were also injured. IMHO he is boubtful, I hope he plays but doubt he will. and even if he does, he won't be 100% ready. The knees worry me most, lack of practice time second. Don't mind a freebie either, but y'know Batch is a decent backup, be interesting to see a Batch/Harrington matchup.

In Saban We Trust!

I too wish him the best, i would love nothing more than to beat the steelers at full strength, i can hear the excuses already if we were to win without him. That being said, i believe he will not be ready, i also believe there are more injuries that are not being disclosed, i had a friend wipe out last year going about 20 mph, andhe didnt hit anything, he just went over the bars and is still recovering, i really believe he is more hurt than what we are hearing, i hope he is not, but motorcycle accidents are usually quite severe, he is extremely lucky, i cant believe that upon the landing, he didnt shatter his hand, wrist and or knee whatsoever, a man of his size would not come down gently, unless (not trying to be funny) his head took the majority of the impact. I know the player he is, if he can stand come opening day, he will defy any doctor and play, he has lots of heart, i wish him the best

I'll take a gimmie. Hell, so would the Steelers. How do you think they got past the Bengals and eventually got that hardware on their thumb?

Gimmie every win we can get. I'm a greedy motha......and I don't give a ____ what we do to win. If Chris Chambers distracts the secondary by barking like a dog and doing backflips and it leads to McMike scoring a touchdown, then bark away......

Prolly working on his teeth...each one can take up to 45 minuets to put back in... Also if his teeth are really bad they wont be able to wire them so it could require some plates to be surgically screwed in...

Reports say it was only a little road rash

What a bad one for Ben.:shakeno: I don't think this accident will take him out of the season opener, but will affect his practice time. I just know getting popped really good will have to hurt if you are in his shoes. After coming off a season where our D-line came up big with sacks, this will carry on to this season. Who is the steelers RB anyway? Bettis retired, Staley is injury prone... :crutch:
:mrt:

I have been thinking Saban is going to start Culpepper but he just won't announce it. Brady is always on the probable list with "shoulder injury" and look how he comes and tears it up!:tantrum:

When you come to think about it, If Steelers make game plan around Harrington, boy what a surprise, or may I say nightmare, they will have to see #8 chucking the rock!
:koolbang:OOH YEAAA!

Be afraid of the fish!:shark:
