Here's a breakdown of what our OL really did last year in pass protect, including hits and hurries to sacks.

First 9 games with Albert.

Satele- 0 sacks, 4 hits, 6 hurries.

James- 2- 8- 16

Pouncey- 3- 0- 10

Colledge- 5- 2- 4

Dallas- 0- 2- 12

Albert- 3- 1- 5

Smith- 1- 2- 4

Totals- 14 sacks, 19 hits, and 57 hurries. Total pressures 90 or 10 per game. I thought that Benton did one hell of a job with Albert the only proven talent, and 5 new guys in a new O. I thought Tannehill was gonna get killed early and often but, Benton pulled a rabbit out of his hat.

Last 7 games without Albert

Satele- 3 sacks, 8 hits, 9 hurries.

James- 4- 4- 24

Pouncey- 0- 3- 15

Colledge- 2- 3- 5

Dallas- 7- 5- 14

Smith- 1- 1- 1

Fox- 0- 3- 8

Totals- 17 sacks, 27 hits, and 76 hurries. Total pressures- 120 or 17 per game.

It's almost hard to believe the difference Albert made but, pressure on Tannehill went fro 10 a game to 17.

The total sacks, for the OL only were 31. RT, TE's, and RB gave up 3 sacks, 4 hits, and 16 hurries. That leaves 12 sacks which were team sacks, with a player on D unblocked, which is way too many.

These are the facts on what really happened last season on the OL. If anyone's eyeballs dispute any of the above, tell me who, when, and where the facts were mistaken.

IF Albert is healthy, I believe that Benton has more to work with this year than last year but, we have not seen what he has. I would be very happy if he did the same as the first 9 games of last year, and have to think Tannehill would say the same.

This is NOT a Dallas Thomas thread, which has been beaten to death. It is a thread about the entire OL and Benton.

Yes I knew. Check the depth chart. He is playing GUARD.

Man oh man, what the hell are you watching or reading? Everyone her, save a few I guess, saw Dallas go to RT when James moved to LT. Whatever depth chart you're looking at is an absolute waste, and if you watched games you would know that.

Well you've used the word "is" in a sentence, and properly, but I'm not so sure you understand it. The word "is" refers to present tense.

LOL "if you watched games you would know that" ..... references PFF daily like it's the bible.

I watch tape till my eyes bleed.

And you wonder why no one else has commented..

Did you bother to read the thread and OP saying "2014" as opposed to trying to be an English teacher? lol

This is, was, and hopefully will be a serious thread, with research and fact.

To bad this will be the last comment in the thread, unless you decide to talk to yourself.

If so, don't care, it was factual info for some reading to learn from. You offered nothing of the kind in saying nothing. IMO, you do think way too highly of yourself.

Didn't they also shorten up the routes in the later part of the season? They really were that bad. I think it was a big mistake to not have a legit backup left tackle. Moving James ruined 2 positions on the line and could have hurt his development.

From what I saw, they did with little success. Think about 7 more pressure a game affecting Tannehill in the last 7 games. That's a hell of a lot of a difference.

Just to add some more context, these are the teams we played in 2014.

- First 9 games: NE, Buff, KC, Oak, GB, Chi, Jax, SD, Det
- Last 7 games: Buff, Den, NYJ, Balt, NE, Minn, NJY

I think losing Albert was key, but also we faced really tough DL's in the second half of the season.

Good analysis, OP.
