Berlin vs. Feeley

Your killing me making me stick up for AJ!!

Brock Berlin (yeah, he’s on the roster right now), the undrafted rookie free-agent from the University of Miami is obviously just there to help out. He is playing a role of fourth quarterback who can throw to the receivers and hand off to the running backs who are trying to make the team. He waits at least 4-5 seconds on every drop back before he releases the ball, and he often throws either into double coverage, or wide-open grass. There is no way he will make this team.

LOL...see NJ FinFan...Now you see what I was going through every time we argued. I'm not saying that Feeley is the next Marino, but give the guy a chance before you say he sucks. Now people are going as far as to say Berlin is better. Classic.

This thread is perfect showing how ignorant some Feeley haters are. NJ you defending Feeley is the icing on the cake.

Berlin got a bad wrap coming out and an unfair one at that.

Feeleys one year starting in college

149 of 282 a 53% completion rate with 15 tds and 6 ints.

Berlin's senior year

195 of 342 a 57% completion rate with 22 td's and 6 ints.

Without most of us being fans of school in college and having no preconcieved notions about either player, I would say most would go the berlin route especially since he has the stronger arm not just the better stats.

isn't there a chance that Berlin had a better team around him? I don't want to defend anyone but I would think that UM's talent alone would increase a marginal talent at QB. I can't say this with conviction since I never saw Feeley in college and I don't know who was on his team's during his college career, but I have witnessed Berlin and UM and they had talent!!

Souns like an AJ Feeley scouting report to me. Do you not like the fact he has better numbers at a school less known recently for QB sucess.

Did Oregan play defenses like Florida State, VT, UV I dont think so, he played a weaker opposition so it is all relative. And Joey Harrington proved the next year THEY DEFINATLY HAD THE SUPPORTING CAST IN OU TO MAKE A qb LOOK BETER THAN HE REALLY IS.

It all comes down to this, Feeley has played at the NFL level and at times, has shown glimces of being a solid quarterback. Brock Berlin has not faced an NFL defense in a game yet and until we see him do so, there is NO comparison. I don't care what they did in college, they are both different quarterbacks now than they were then, even in Brock's case. Point is, Brock struggled against good, well designed defenses in college and A.J. has proven from time to time he can win in the NFL when the offensive line doesn't kill him and he has time to make plays. When Brock is doing that at the NFL level, then we'll talk.

if any of you guys watched the UM games u wouldve realized that berlin is horrible, him and chris rix are on the same page, both had some talent but were dumb as rocks, but get people like the OP to post their college stats not knowing that those stats were caused by the people around him, not the player himself...

Berlin sucks, are will get cut before training camp...

go watch game film before u compare a starting NFL QB to a scrub one

I never said he was better read my posts, trying to put this AJ is great stuff to rest he had a less impressive resume out of college than did Berlin who most people here think is the worst QB to every wear a Hurricane uni. And Berlin had a better int to td ration with a higher completion percentage also. He taked the fall for a Miami Hurrican D that collapsed at times last year. Not fair to him and it cost him as far as the draft was concearned. If the D holds up and we win at UNC and against VT he may very well be a 3rd or 4th round choice.

Ok it's relative. I guess the only way to see for sure is when the cuts/roster are finalized who makes the team and where on the depth chart they fall. I will assume (maybe wrongly) that this coaching staff will decide who is the best for the job.

I have my doubts about AJ as we all know, but I have been saying he deserves a chance to compete, but if Gus beats him out (which I feel he may), the AJ will be gone in 2006.

i think feeley was hurting, he injured his elbow, this also let his draft stock slip
