in the NY Times they have an short article on how Bernie may not be ready to retired after this year. And when he was asked if the yankees dont take him will he consider playing for the mets, bernie said yes. He said he dont want to leave NY and he is tight with Omar Minaya. I personally wish Bernie retires a yankee.

I don't see much of a fit for him with the Mets. I also would like to see him retire as a Yankee.

Bernie's a shadow of what he once was. He needs to hang it up, but I'd be willing to see him play for the Mets.

Being a Met fan, I say he retire a Yankee. What more does he has to prove and to tell you the truth I don't feel that we need him on our team. He isn't too fast in the outfield and I would rather see our youth out there than someone looking for the fountain of youth...

Not only is bernie not a fit for the 07 mets but he deserves to retire a yank.

I don't buy this for one second. Why would Bernie sit on the bench for the Mets when he can sit on the bench for the Yankees? If Bernie leaves the Yankees it's going to be for a team like the Royals, a team dumb enough to let him play everyday. He's slow on the base paths, slow in the outfield, and slow with the bat, not a good combination. I love Bernie and would welcome him back on the Yankees but as far as an everyday player, he can't do it anymore. That's why I don't buy this, I'm sure Bernie would rather sit on our bench then the Mets bench. The only way I could possibly see this happen is if the Yankees cut off ties with him. Even though Bernie would be out 5th outfield option if he returns to the Yankees, I'm sure George is going to make sure Cash at least makes a lame attempt at bringing Bernie back. If Bernie isn't wanted back then he should take it like man and retire a Yankees rather then have people laughing at him next year asking themselves why he came back and embarrased himself after such a great career!

Where is Bernie going to play? The Mets OF is pretty stacked.

Is he gonna pinch hit for the pitcher once a game? If so god bless him but I don't think he wants to do that. Hey, not gonna deny the guy the chance to make a buck. IF the Mets want him and if he wants to keep playing go for it. I just don't see the fit with the Mets though

The Mets aren't much of a fit, certainly not now that they just acquired Shawn Green, who's also over the hill, but not as much as Williams is. Williams really should retire a Yankee.

Bernie is finished. Go watch last night's game when Melky laid down a bunt with Bernie on first and see how slow Bernie was running to 2nd base when he got thrown out. I'm not saying Bernie should have beat it out but if you would have seen how slow he was running you would have been amazed!

Personaly If he wants to keep playing, let him play!

As far as the Mets go, Flod will be gone, I have a feeling so will Lastings in a trade. Chavez will want to start someplace. So if Williams wants to come a be a backup, I would have no problem with that. Willie does seem to get the most out of his bench!

bernies still a decent hitter, and clutch to. not fast and cant field anymore, but as far as a 4th OF, i think hes great in that role.

He's not going to be a Met, but don't use the argument that he's too old. Julio Franco is under contract for next year as well.
