For a team that seemingly doesn't need a quarterback, the Dolphins are spending a decent amount of time with them. They recently requested private conversations with Georgia's Aaron Murray and LSU's Zach Mettenberger after their pro days. They spent parts of at least four days up close with UM's Stephen Morris (whom they like); and also recently called Wake Forest's Tanner Price.

Pretty obvious that the Dolphins want to add a quarterback to compete with Devlin this year and possibly become the new #2 in 2015. I highly doubt Mettenberger will be there in the 4th round when they are likely to take a quarterback, but you never know I guess. I have read that the Vikings would love to get him in the 2nd round.

we have so many needs at so many positions, and the draft is supposedly so deep with talent, i really don't want this to be the year we spend any draft picks on QB.

If we are seriously evaluating backup QB prospects like Morris and Price, with absolute best prospect to challenge Devlin for the #3 role, that tells me that our evaluation of all the other key positions must be locked in. Positions of need like mike linebacker and O-line are pretty obvious, but to be spending the last 4 days money and effort evaluating Stephen Morris and Tanner Price, really??
There is no excuse for not getting good players from this draft, if we have the time and resources going into acorns to challenge the #3 QB. Or maybe this is a B/S report to distract another 31 teams. Who is Tanner Price from Wake Forest?

With Hickey and Philbin known for only liking "high character guys" I find the interest in Mettenberger somewhat confusing. Especially because he does not fit the offense at all. But like you said about Minnesota he is a great fit for Norv Turners vertical offense. Just not athletic/accurate enough for the WCO in my opinion.

I thought the thread tile meant Keith Price from UW.

He IMO should be available on day 3 & a developmental project.

I thought the same thing and i was excited for a second. I watched him play a little, and he has the tools and athleticism that may be worth a late rd pick.

I have stated that Miami should go young at backup Qb and release Moore. I like Moore, but that salary is brutal.

I think it's ok they're looking at everything. As much as I like Tanny, he hasn't really proven yet that he's the real future. He might be and I think he is, but we really don't know yet. We should not ignore the QB position like we did in the past.

Ozzy rules!!

Isn't Miami looking at Logan Thomas and his freakish 11 inch hands as a 7th round prospect? i thought i read that he was on Miami's radar too.

I can't see Mettenberger happening unless Miami gets some extra day two picks (maybe a couple of trade downs?).

maybe if there is a trade down qb pick may happen. Murray or someone in 3rd or 4th round. I would take Mccarron for WCO style.

I love competition at every position...even quarterback...I mean especially quarterback

I also thought the header referred to Keith Price of Washington. He was a touted sophomore a couple of years ago. For most of the bowl game it looked like he'd outscore Robert Griffin, until the Huskies collapsed in the final seven minutes.

He's a hit or miss big play guy, but a better prospect than Stephen Morris, IMO.

Mettenberger? IMO he's not as good as advertised, Maybe Tajh Boyd is a better fit because the QB will have to be able to move very quickly in this offense, I think Matt Moore is on the way out if they sign a QB.
